There are all the mysteries of grownup toiletries to marvel at, and your parents are so focused on their preparations that you can, if you're very still, catch a glimpse of who you might be as an adult: someone who uses deodorant, for instance, or a water-pic flosser. All the mysterious substances and hygienic equipment seemed so foreign and sturdy and impressive to me, as a five-year-old perching invisibly on the edge of the ceramic bathtub, watching my Dad get ready. There was a powdery-smelling cream style deodorant that came in a tub, and a thick handled tortoiseshell toothbrush, and classic, minty, old-school toothpaste that came out of the tube in thick white globs— so different from the blue sparkly gel I used. And far too “spicy” for my young tastebuds. Colgate's Total Active Prevention toothpaste unexpectedly took me back to those moments of gazing in wonderment at my parents' old-school toothpaste. No exotic, surprising cinnamon or mango or charcoal or gel infused stripes here! But also, no grittiness or annoying baking soda flavor. Just luscious creamy gobs of white toothpaste, with a powerful blast of mint that lingers in your mouth. Smooth. Strong. Reliable. What is this toothpaste like? It's like returning to your childhood, except now you're the adult who can relish the “spiciness” of a real, grown up toothpaste. It's like walking into a classic illustration of toothpaste, from back when things were made to last. It's like unassuming, comforting, count-on-it clean in a stand-up tube. It's how toothpaste was meant to be.

I am pretty particular about toothpaste because I have sensitive teeth, so I want something that gives me a thorough clean without leaving my teeth feeling uncomfortable afterward. The texture is not bad. The ingredients are good. It doesn't take that much to make my teeth feel nice and clean and it doesn't hurt to brush my teeth and I have sensitive teeth. I definitely recommend this if you have sensitive teeth. A+ if you ask me
