I got this primarily to clean off rust on some old equipment after watching a few YouTube videos on others using it. I can say this, IT WORKS! Very impressed with this and plan on buying more in the future when this doesn't work anymore. Reusable as long as it still can be see through. I'm a cheap scape and environmentaly conscious so this is exactly what I needed.
Evapo-Rust works great as I have several old railroad lanterns that were rusted and I cleaned one up and it turned out great. draw back is you need to purchase 10 32oz bottles @$12.99 to submerse lantern in. I think they need to sell it at $12.99 per gallon.
I used Evapo-Rust to remove rust from a pair of calipers (one inside, one outside) that I picked up at a flee market for 2 bucks. Now they are free from rust but can surely be told from a new pair! That said...they may not look like new...but work perfectly.
This product exceeded my expectations. The recommended method is to soak the rusty object. I have a wood stove door that could not be easily soaked. The rust prevented the stove door handle from working because the handle was fixed to the door by a 2 inch long collar and could not be removed from the door. So, I dripped the EVAPO RUST in the space between the handle and collar with an eye dropper. I repeated the process several times (about 10) over the course of an hour and the rust dripped out of the collar and the handle now works effortlessly. This is one produce that does what it says.
I just used this product for the first time last night and today to clean rust off some old sewing machine attachments. I love it. I soaked the parts, rinsed them and dried with a hair dryer, and oiled them. I recommend taking them out of the solution and drying and oiling them one at a time, to avoid flash rust. Don't take them out and just let them sit.
I was worried that the cost and being more friendly to environment, that it may not be as effective as I would like. I have an old rusty telescope I am restoring. It had a large gear 10" across with hundreds of heavily rusted teeth. I left it in a bath of evaporust for four days to be sure I gave it full opportunity to do its stuff. I pulled the gear out and the rust was " Completely" gone. I was amazed and recommended it to others who also work on antique large scopes. Love it!
For a non-toxic chemical free rust remover, it doesn't get any better than this stuff. Only regret is not getting a bigger bottle of it! This size bottle is good for some small things like nuts and bolts. Anything more you want to get the bigger size. All and all I couldn't have been more pleased with the results that Evaporust produced!
When I ordered this item I expected to get 1 gallon containers as the price is equivilant to other store prices for 1 gallon packages. Very dissapointed to receive 1 quart packages which means you are charging 4 times what other stores charge. I will be very carefull when (if) I order anything else from Walmart. I did purchase 1 gallon containers of the same product for $27 each from another source after receiving your shipment. The photo shows a comparison in the 1 qt package purchased from you and the 1 gal package purchased from another store at equitable cost.
it did not take rust off like suppose to. so i tried sending it back and seller said couldn't. it does not say if opened! cant return. Just says returnable. very disappointed. wouldn't buy anything more from seller. and it was expensive
I ordered the super safe evapo-rust remover, and I received the heavy duty version (also the wrong size but that's a different issue). I'm confused. Are there two evapo-rust products? Or are they the same products with different labels? The heavy duty version comes with a lot more warnings and rules for usage. It's confusing and I can't get a clear answer anywhere.
