I was very pleased with the result of this high quality matte black spray. I used on my Truck bumbers and steps, they came out silky matte smooth, very sharp looking.
This is pretty good paint for the money. It covers well and dries fast. I am pleased with it. I bought it to spray some wooden dowels I am adding to my porch railing.
Initially, I had some hesitations about trying this product, but I was pleasantly surprised by its effectiveness for my needs. It matched the description on the bottle perfectly, and I appreciated that the fumes were minimal, especially compared to other products I’ve tried that didn't live up to that claim. By carefully following the instructions, we experienced no issues at all. Overall, it proved to be an excellent choice for crafts, and I was particularly impressed with its quick dry time.
I’ve used a lot of flat black spray paints for DIY projects, but the Rust-Oleum Blackout is a significant step up from the standard professional lines for three specific reasons: Odor, Coverage, and Finish. 1. The Odor (The Best Feature): If you’ve ever spray-painted indoors or in a garage, you know that heavy chemical smell usually lingers for days. This "low odor" claim is the real deal. It still has a slight scent, but it is about 70% less pungent than traditional oil-based sprays. I used it in my workshop and didn't have to air out the whole house afterward. 2. The Matte Finish: This isn't a "chalky" flat black; it’s a true premium matte. It has a smooth, velvety texture that hides imperfections on the surface really well. I used it to refurbish some dated metal lamp bases, and they now look like high-end powder-coated steel. 3. Application Tips: > * Dry Time: It takes slightly longer to "set" than the quick-dry variants (give it a full 20-30 minutes before touching), but it’s less prone to dripping. Distance: Keep the can exactly 10–12 inches away. Because it’s a "blackout" formula, it’s highly pigmented—if you get too close, it goes on thick. Bottom Line: If you are working on home decor or furniture where you want a "designer" look without the headache of heavy fumes, this is worth the extra couple of dollars over the basic cans. Pros: Low VOCs, excellent hide-power, sophisticated finish. Cons: Slightly longer cure time than standard spray paint.
Very low odor and the coverage is great! I mainly use it on unfinished wood and I have never had an issue. Highly recommend!
I never realized that low odor would be important to me, but it is you never use it in an enclosed area, but it's nice that it doesn't stink up the place and by the way, the color is beautiful. It wasn't drippy. It worked fine.
it was delivered pretty quick. the colors what I expected. the spray was a little broader than what I would have liked. I wish they would include a straw.
Rustoleum , I thought was quality product. I bought a six pack to paint my iron patio furniture, two cans, half way stopped spraying. Trouble shot cleaning tge opening, pressing harder, nope. I am disappointed with Rustoleum.
This is the second can I have bought %26 both have quit spraying. The first one I bought last year %26 when I tried to paint it wouldn't spray. Thought maybe it may have froze or something so I ordered a new can. In the middle if spraying my flower pot it stopped %26 will not spray anymore just like my first can. So I have 2 cans almost full that I can't use.
I purchased this can approx 2 hrs ago. I completed a test spray and now it doesn't spray at all. I followed the guidance on the can in the event the nozzle was clogged, and the paint still doesn't come out when pressing the nozzle. Requesting an exchange or refund.
