I remember making pot holders as a child, my sisters and I loved it. A few years ago I tried to find one of the looms I remembered using, but only found the plastic ones. They are a total waste of money!! They do not work at all.........Then I found this metal loom, it is the same loom we used as children, back in the 50's and 60's. I go to a local sock mill and get cotton loops for free. The ones that are made of nylon will not hold up for everyday use, as they tend to melt. Only buy the cotton loops or if you can find a mill, they will give you all you want! I have taught my grand daughters how to make pot holders, and they love it too. Buy one and teach a child an old fashion craft that is still useful. I ordered this one to replace the one I just gave to another one of my grand daughters.
I had this same loom when I was a child. I had the metal one and the plastic one. I lost them both but I never liked that plastic one it wouldn't hold the loops. This one has one thing different from the one I had as a child. The frame is shaped like the plastic one and that can make it difficult to get that last loop through and on the peg but it's the closest thing to perfect u will probably find these days without finding that vintage one we all used to have as kids.
The metal potholder weaving loom and the metal hook are what I've wanted for a long time. Some stores only sell the plastic weaving loom and plastic hook which break sometimes if you have stiff loops.
I really like that I don't have to only use the loops but can use yarn!!!!
It takes time to get use to . I'm still learning but it is fun
my little girl is having fun learning how to make potholders
i really like the metal loom. easy to work with.
value rated fair because i think it is too high a price to pay for such a small item and no patterns to show how to really do other things.
I have not used as yet, but item appears to be well made. It is metallic so the teeth should not break. It didn't have a comb/brush to push back the weave. Also only instructions are on the back of the box. No manual was included.
loom was bent when received
