But boy was i surprised!!! I’m a big fan of the Joe Malone version but currently have about three other very expensive perfumes in rotation. Thought I’d give this a shot…. It’s spot on. The only difference is that it does not last as long. At this price point I’m happy to refresh it as needed!
This fragrance is like sitting with your grandma on her porch swing, smelling her perennial flower bushes off the side of the deck as a summer breeze floats by, eating a slice of melon on a warm afternoon. And that's not to say it's an aged floral, it's just that mimosa and heliotrope flowers aren't the most common anymore as the floral stars of fragrances. As such, I found this floral approachable as someone who doesn't love super strong florals but still enjoys a touch of floral with some flair. The cardamom spice brings out a certain sweetness from the flowers, that on me reads as melon. The floral notes aren't cloying in this, and smell more like a floral **** that grows on its own each year and not intentionally planted annuals, if you catch my meaning. It's more subtle and not so, "HI! I'M AN ORANGE/WHITE/PURPLE floral." More like a perennial garden floral. It wear really well in the summer/heat, and pairs well with spicy musks (like free the musk). The scent does seem to stay in the top and middle, and as such doesn't have extreme longevity, but this scent feels like an intentional 4 hours experience, at which point I like putting on a different perfume on top of any lingering notes. I like to put this on for daytime more than evening, but you could use this as a layering fragrance for the evening in the summer too.
I love Spicy Mimosa! It smells spicy, and has a warmness to it! I liked it so much I order before I run out, I want to have it at all times!
I had two bottles of the original Jo Malone, and stopped buying it after her son’s scandal. When I saw this Dossier imitation, I was very happy. It smells just like it. It does not last as long but smells really good. I will keep buying it.
Nothing to dislike Smell is incredible, so warm and alluring very warm tones and not heavy of a fragrance
its a bit sweet and citrucy, for my taste.. but smells really nice. its more sweet than spicy.
enjoy this fragrance a lot for the price point, cant comment on the accuracy as i have not smelled the original but this is a good deep fragrance HOWEVER the fragrance does not smell very identifiably like mimosa or cardamom and has a synthetic undertone very strong woody and vanilla notes for what it is
love the perfume. It has such a fresh powdery and clean and girly scent! love love it!!! pretty similar to the jo malone mimosa and cardamom
This scent just isn't for me, but I'm sure it's well liked by others. This is also my second time having to write/submit this review, because who knows what happened to the first one. Whether it's on my skin or on fabric it just wasn't good. I saw another reviewer from January 2024 describe this as reminiscent of a soapy latrine and that's the same experience I had with Spicy Mimosa. Those are the cons for me, but I will say that a pro for this fragrance is definitely the lasting power. It has decent projection and lasts for hours. Significant intensity is def accurate here.
This will suit some people, but sadly Spicy Mimosa did not work for me at all, and it's the only one star review I've given. To give it some credit though it really does have the correct advertised intensity and lasting power (which I wish scents like Powdery Orange Flower had). You will be smelling this for hours. On me it just didn't work and that's ok; not everything can be a hit. Another reviewer left a comment in January 2024 that this smelled like a soapy latrine, and that's the exact same experience I had.
