This is very nice. Got a motor tool hanger stand for this. The motor variable speed control did not go slow enough to drill styrene without melting it, so I added a variable transformer and a Wen foot switch.
This was a brand replacement item!
Appears to be in good condition.
is exactly what i needed!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In addition to my old one (working so fine) I bought the new flex shaft 4 years ago. I use both of them across my three rotary tools (395, 200 and 3000). I use the flex shaft for wood carving, wood sculpting, engraving, polishing, grinding, finishing and smoothing out sharp edges with the sanding drums attachment to it, ....the list goes on to easily accomplish detailed work quickly for all the different types of uses in my woodworking hobbies — Great for detailing makes my finishing work much more comfortable and precise. It bring my hand crafting to a higher level and better control and more comfort versus using the rotary tool by itself. It feels very sturdy in my hand, the Dremel right angle attachment fits the new flex shaft, I hang Dremel rotary tool vertically in my Dremel workstation when I need the flex shaft to keep the flex shaft as straight as possible when working. Overall, I'm happy with the attachment and I'd recommend to absolutely anyone who wants to add a new aspect of work with their Dremel rotary tool.
I had the old flex tool, you needed three hands and a clamp to change out the bit. I got my new one yesterday (I finally threw the old one in the recycle bin, it made me so angry). It is like a new light has been cast into my home, and the air is fresher and I walk with a new sense of pridel
I bought this at the same time I bought my Dremel 8000 1 Cordless Rotary Tool. And I LOVE it!!! It comes in soooooo handy for detail work or simply when you just don't feel like holding the whole rotary tool in your hand if you have a lot of work to do at one time. I just use an old tripod from an old broken camera, made a hook for the top & I can hang my Dremel any place I'm working & have the freedom to have a much smaller diameter tool in my hand. I keep my flex shaft right in my carry case so its always with me where ever I need to work at. Its an invaluable accessory!!! :-)
Dremel obviously changed something within the manufacturing of either the flex shaft or the Dremel Chuck 4486?? I've used these together for years. Bought new flex shaft and tried 3 brand new Dremel Chuck 4486s and none of them screw on properly into the flex shaft. Also, the collet nuts are now made of PLASTIC. Shame on you, Dremel.
I like using the flex shaft though and not happy that is broke at the 13 month mark (warranty is only good for 12 months) the inside spindle snapped inside the handle at the collar. This made the flex shaft unusable and made my bit nearly impossible to remove. Disappointed
Save your money. I know a number of people that bought the "kit" with the flex shaft. If it worked at all, which mine didn't, it didn't last. Save your money and just buy the too, the flex shaft is junk.
