I've been using Dremel for over 30 years and found it to be one of the most used power tools I use. I've been wanting a battery powered unit for a long time and with the Lithium batteries now I think this is a great tool. My only concern is the size is a little large but not a problem so far.
Item works greatly, needs to recharge quite often with vigorous use. Great useful tool for almost any work but the sanding attachments are basic and severely limited like the have always been.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First time I have used a Dremel Cordless Rotary Tool in my 30 years of owning and using varied levels of corded Dremel's. I have an added reason for liking this Cordless version outside of the standard product measures, I now have limited use of my right arm after a fall and elbow surgery, which is where I want to start my review. My project with the Dremel 8240 for review was cleaning and repainting a simple "In Ground" Garden Hose Stand which had rusted, which I used various Dremel Sanding Flap Wheels and Detail Abrasive Brush to remove rust to metal. The 8240 actually had the feeling of being lighter and easier to move-around/reposition than the corded Dremel 4000 I use, this from the drag of the cord itself. The 8240 had no noticeable power difference between it and my Dremel 4000 as I adjusted the RPM up and down the scale and in use in my project. The 12V Battery charged exactly as claimed with it Quick Charge and used two of the three bars in total for my project with no noticeable decrease performance as the Power Indicators lights dropped from three bars to one. Overall I would gladly replace my corded Dremel 4000 with the 8240, and as suggested in the User Manual for those who find a good amount of use for their Rotary Tool buy a second battery.
Very nice, a powerhouse without the cord and it is in perfect condition. But, even tho it was reconditioned by Dremel, it is not new and the price should have been a little less. It is large --- much larger than my other Dremels, and that is probably why it was returned in the first place. I will use it often, but I will also use my smaller, lighter Dremels (one of my others is a cheap rechargeable clone). BTW: you WILL still need to get all the various attachments/drills/polishers
This cordless version is bigger and heavier than the plug in version, not just because of the battery, the body of the tool is bigger too. But, if that isnt an issue for you then having a cordless version is handy.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tool packs the power, has a lot of power for grinding, cutting and buffing. It it easy to use and change speeds. Charge last for quite a while even when using at full speed. Feels comfortable in the hand.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great tool to have available. More than enough power to get the job done, and the freedom being cordless. A must have for everyone, since plug ins are not always an option. Thank you Dremel.
It's costly not sure worth the extra money
I have the Dremel 8220 and although a few years old it has only been used a couple of times. I pulled it out this week to use it a d it won't run. Charger works but battery apparently doesnt charge b/c tool is dead. Seems like a common problem with this brand/battery. For the cost of this tool, Dremel do better! So disappointed in this product 😞
I can't get the battery out to charge it and it came fully charged and only lasted about 10 minutes
