I have at least 3 dozen each of AA and AAA batteries, all with at least 5 years left before the expiration date printed on the cells. I throw some out every month for premature failure due to leaking, some in storage and some installed in devices where the leaking induces corrosion on device battery terminals. I am about to throw them all out in favor of another brand.
These batteries are not that leak proof. I heard the ones in my TV remote bubbling last night and I opened the battery compartment to find a clear liquid coming out of the battery. I went to replace the batteries and found most of the ones left in the package had already bulged and crystallized. The expiry date for these batteries are supposed to be 2023 and they were stored at room temperature inside a living room. Does Duracell actually back their 10 year guarantee? I've had Duracell batteries leak before, but I thought these new ones would fair better.
I would give 0 if that was an option. I have bought Duracell for years. Not anymore. This past couple of months - first a AAA battery leaked in remote control (expiry date 2022) and then a AA leaked in the computer mouse (expiry date 2023) Another set of AA's totally ruined a vintage Furby.
To be fair I don't remember when I bought these batteries but they claim to be good until 2024 and have spent their entire existence inside my air conditioned home. I have 7 AAA's that won't work in a TV remote. There are 4 still working batteries that came out of the box but the last unused 7 were DOA. The rest of the batteries worked as expected over the past year(s).
Every device I put these Duracell batteries in gets damaged due to the batteries leaking, flashlights, remote controls etc. I just was going to take out the batteries of my remote that I am not going to use for awhile and found the batteries leaked again. AAA Exp.Dec. 2023 made in the USA. I'm done buying Duracell.
We have lost 2 remotes that were used everyday and one very expensive flashlight due to battery leakage. The expiry date was for 2022!!! The $100 dollar flashlight, the battery ate through the metal prongs, so we checked our remotes and found all batteries have leaked. I will never purchase Duracell nor recommend their batteries unless you enjoy throwing away expensive belongings, and render Blu-Rays useless!!!
Using Duracell for over 30 years. Was in public safety so lives depended on batteries. During the past few years our devices have been damaged by leaking batteries and actually were still holding power. Flashlight batteries leak during short term storage, and electronics would still work, but the batteries leak. Something changes as this was never an issue years ago. Now it's almost a guarantee the batteries will leak. AAA are the worst with C right behind. 9 bolt seem to be the only ones that don't leak.
I just opened my wireless Apple Mouse to change the batteries and discovered that the batteries had leaked significantly. I've never seen a battery leak this much and the batteries are still within the best before date. I also recently changed the Duracell batteries in my Keyless door lock and they had also leaked slightly. While I haven't used the Apple mouse for several months this shouldn't happen. I haven't tried the mouse yet so hopefully it hasn't been damaged by the excessive battery acid.
Bought within the past month - went to use and had leaked / corroded in package. Duracell quality is non existent - this has happened a couple times and I keep giving benefit of the doubt as it used to be a great product - DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUIN SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!
Bought these sometime in 2018 package said good to 2023. Went to get a few out of the new package and several had leaked. What a mess...had to throw 4 out and few others were below 1.5v so junked them as well. I no longer have the sales receipt nor do I remember where I bought them. This is a first for me. Not impressed at all. Wasted my money.
