My 26 yr old gas cooktop died . Before purchasing a replacement, I wanted to get to know about induction cooking so purchased this one burner unit. Most of my cookware worked with it and after a bit of a learning curve, I found it so handy I've been using it for close to six months now. Between it, my toaster oven and my microwave , I don't really need a cooktop although I will be purchasing one eventually. Definitely recommend the unit.
This is a replacement for an earlier model that finally wore out. It is quieter, although still the fan noise could be lower... This model has a wider range of temperature settings, including just warm. The one little thing I would change is to make the on/off button less sensitive. Wiping the unit with a damp sponge turns it on and off. Other than that, it works great. We use it instead of our electric stovetop for almost everything.
Arrived quickly. Ordered this in before winter weather knocked our power out. We were able to run this off of our small generator and were able to have hot meals.
I have never had on if these induction burners but I wanted to try one. Glad I did. Very easy to use and bc it is portable, you can use it anywhere that you have power. Heats and cooks very fast and easily wipes clean.
It works well, haven't had any issues other than minor learning curve of never having used any type of induction stove before, and getting used to how fast it heats up and cooks things versus a broken old electric stovetop which is all I really have to compare it to.
Need more information on temperature setting for cooking for different types of food. First time cooking with electricity.
This Duxtop induction cooktop has become a favorite kitchen appliance. Living in a Tiny Home makes very careful about stuff like this product. It is sleek and very modern. It heats fast, but not as fast as the $1,000 - $2,000 units out there. But those wouldn't work for me. Especially for the price, this is an EXCELLENT introduction into induction cooking. Upfront tips: Make sure you have the correct cookware. Only magnetic cookware will work. The easiest way to tell is to see if a magnet sticks to the BOTTOM of the pot. If not, the cooktop will error off. Cast iron, iron, magnetic steel and enameled iron. Aluminum or copper cookware will work only if it's manufactured with a magnetic bottom or base. Cookware made of glass, ceramic, non magnetic metals AND ANYTHING NOT FLAT on the bottom, even if magnetic. I certainly recommend this item. The instructions are not the best at all. A novice to induction cooking might feel they are the worst . The poor instructions is the reason for 4 stars.
The inner package was crushed on one side but the outer box had no damage. I see what might be some damage on one part but i tested it and with the probe it held a pot of water very close to 150 degrees for an hour. Wife was making a pot of Olive Garden style Zuppe and boiled it on the stove then we moved it to the cook top to simmer at around 180 degrees. the probe showed a higher temp and the cook top wouldn't allow me to set the temp lower than the pot already was. Disappointing that i would have to wait for the pot to cool before setting.
The only problem with this product is that some pans or pots do not work on it, and that can be frustrating. However, it is wonderful when you can find a good pan for it.
Extremely loud!!! Honestly louder than my stove's exhaust fan, especially at higher power levels. There's a constant high-pitched noise that's really unpleasant and distracting. It's loud enough that my family, and even my pets tend to walk away when it's running. My old Nuwave induction cooktop died, so I replaced it with this one, but I was really disappointed. Ended up returning it. Just not something I'd want to use every day.
