I run an online business and was tired of buying expensive labels AND ink AND changing out the paper in my printer. This little thing solved all those problems and is way faster! I highly recommend for anybody that ships packages on a regular basis. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought this for my business and it works wonderful . Very easy set up and very user friendly. It had definitely saved me time and money.
THE most dependable. Worth the xtra $$. I had a $150 one before which did work just fine until it didn't; then I couldn't get it to work with my new computer. Hooked up the DYMO and bam, I was back in business!!! That was a year ago.
If you need a fast reliable printer to do multiple shipping labels this is the one. Aftermarket labels are available at a fraction of the price that Dymo charges, but for the money this is a great deal.
I'm writing this review because I suspect that some of the negative reviews are user errors. It took a little bit to get this little guy set up to work with UPS Worldship and our other shipping programs but it worked fantastic while we used it all the time. We ship a LOT of items during the week and this thing kept up. Only had a few little issues here and there, but in the 4 years that we used it, it was amazing. In fact we still have it. The reason that we no longer use this is because we combined shipping software and ended up getting a printer that we could use the free supplies from UPS. A little more cost effective. But, you CAN use generic labels in this printer. The brand ones are silly expensive compared to the "brand" ones and work just as good. (Added that to counteract the reviews about the cost of the labels). I still have it and we will be using it now to print our barcodes since we just integrated an inventory system into our business complete with barcodes. That is how much I liked the product... I kept it rather than selling it or trashing it. It will come in handy and save money! If you have problems with yours, I suggest getting some help with it. Ours never jammed. Never needed anything but some light maintenance once a year (and it never demanded it, we just do it because that is what we do)! Great little machine. Fast enough also.
I've had my printer for a year now. It's great, when it's not wasting labels which is 70% of the time. I only use DYMO brand labels and almost exclusively the large size. They are loaded to left and coming straight through the feed. Still, I have a trashcan full of wasted labels and only 3 that printed correctly.
I have been using this printer for a couple of years now, and I give this 2-2.5 stars. PROS: — It is an aesthetically pleasing product. Although it has a few years now, it still looks fresh and sleek. — Speed of printing is satisfactory — Noise levels are minimal (it is completely silent when idle, and fairly quiet while printing), that's a huge plus! — Durability is good CONS: — Installation is a nightmare, the driver is not downloaded automatically by Windows, and one has to search for it manually. Second problem is, they are nowhere to be found, it is as if Dymo does not want you to install it. Out of the frustration, then you may guess "maybe that Dymo Connect thing might help?" and it does, if you manage to download it! And when you finally do, it is not even the lastest version. Dymo needs to hire better people. —Then, many of these machines are faulty. My first one broke ("the last USB you connected to this computer malfunctioned") the first day, after a single print. It was unfixable so I had it returned. The second has been lasting longer, but has this problem rising (without any notice) every now and then. It is fixable, but takes about 15-20 minutes every time. Too much for a printer you actually pay for (remember that they restrict you to use only their uber-expensive labels). — (minor) The machine comes with a huge power brick, same size as the ones that come with much bigger devices. I have no doubt that there's a better way around this in the 21st century. * (minor) The blue LED light cannot be turned off (not good if your bedroom/studio apartment doubles as a shipping station). Not a major problem, but it accumulates.
This labelwriter, as all Dymo products, has failed me exactly at the moment I just needed a product that does what it is supposed to. I keep buying Dymo products, and they keep failing, and I keep buying them thinking this is a reputable and respectable company whose products must be under constant improvement and development. I seem to be wrong.
The printer ceased to work properly less than one week post purchase. Ranging from a constantly blinking blue indicator light to "ghost" printing (and ruining) multiple reams of labels, I am beyond frustrated. DO NOT RELY UPON THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THIS PRINTER FOR AN EFFICIENT WORKFLOW. Lastly, the outdated software obliterates any goals of achieving a seamlessly integrated packaging process.
I liked it at first. But suddenly it started malfunctioning. It will print a label and then feed out 10 blank labels after that, and then you have to roll up the labels again so you don't waste them. It also prints half labels, and constantly says its out of paper when it's not. This thing is an absolute piece of garbage and I'm replacing it with a NON Dymo brand.
