I will say this product is awesome for what it is. I wouldn't put this up against any big fish but for backpacking out into the woods catching some small fish such as brim or small bass that definitely will work plus a small, compact, lightweight, and easy to pack.
Used one of these for years but broke it this past summer while landing a very big Rainbow Trout. Walmart had an exact replacement in stock at a very fair price. I purchased the 2 pack so I would have a spare and the option of two different line sizes. So here we are-back in business.
This was a spontaneous purchase honestly. I had my grandchildren coming for the week end and my grand daughter (age 10) asked if we could go fishing. These rod looked ok and compact so why not. They worked great. They were so easy to use. The line never tangled. The grips held up nicely. Kids had an amazing time. Best spontaneous purchase I made.
I love the telescoping rod feature. The openface reel never tangles and is easy to use. It handles like an ultralite setup. Good rod response. Great for smaller to medium size gamefish. It is compact and is easily fits in the velcro straps to carry it on my small crossbody fishing bag (soft tacklebox). This is a nice casting rod alternative to fly fishing. I've bought several over the years for both myself and family. Better quality than expected for the price.
Was on a business trip and there was a lake behind the hotel. I ordered some inexpensive gear delivered to the hotel to see if there were in fish in the lake. Caught a 2lb large mouth bass right out of the gate…. On the line that came on the spool. Very impressed 👍
I can't speak to the reel, but I can tell you that last week I landed a nice king salmon in alaska with this rod. I just bought 2 more and based on the reviews will replace the reels. I can say for sure that the rod handles a 12 ish pound king salmon with 8 pound clear mono no problem. I caught big trout with it too. Love this rod. Perfect for backpacking into the deep back woods of Alaska.
This pole is so easy to assemble, it comes with the fishing line. The material is of great quality, with a strong look and feel. My boyfriend loved it, he can take it anywhere!
This is a good Rod and all but for the money they are several other options that are much better. It is super convenient. It does what it supposed to do, but isn't as strong as a few of the other offerings.
Bought this as it was on sale online for $21 something, thought it was really on sale but when I went to the physical store, it was really just $21 and not on sale, next time i would just rather go to the store and pick this one. Feels flimpsy to me but i really cannot tell how is it going to be (quality wise) this is for my 14 years old the loves fishing.
I ordered one of these and when it arrived I was excited. that was until I noticed it was missing a guide ring. no worries I take it back and exchange it. second one I pick up in store. it's all there and I'm happy. the line it comes spooled with is garbage but I expected that. replaced with a nice braid and had fun with it for two trips. while it was working it was good. then on the third trip th bail won't flip. I look at it and the reel is bending right b low th bail. I gave up on the reel and replaced it with a better one. The rod was most of what I wanted and it's fine.
