This same model (AS-II) was featured in a YOUTUBE video for "Cheapest Alto Sax on Amazon" (or something close to that). I have played baritone sax over the past 50 years and started on a "loaner" alto over the past few months. The review was very positive for fit, finish and playability and I can confirm it has been for me as well. In the video I could tell a few notes were slightly different than the presenter's $700 sax (which may actually run in the low intermediate range of $1.5K). But for a student, or someone like me who is not in some precision orchestral presentation, that difference would be a non-issue. Buy new reeds plus perhaps a more padded neck strap but otherwise, a fellow sax player was shocked this was what I got for this price. The case does not offer much protection so handle the case carefully, protect the package, as if you're an old guy, or lady. Most instances (other horns, other videos) that indicated repairs were needed were not due to maintenance but instead rough handling. Less structurally sound instruments were difficult to repair or were not even repairable. My baritone is over 70 years old. This horn should outlast me. I'm shooting for 50 years more! For a new player I offer the following advice. 90% of problems with a horn like this is your embouchure, your reed or the mouthpiece (or some combination). We now have videos on the net. do homework. Swab out your horn and always remove your reed when done. Clean it and store it well.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this Eastar E flat Saxophone because I was just getting familiar with what instruments (not toy versions) were available. Of course, I already knew that I wanted an Alto Sax. I had no idea that there's such a huge array of prices from different companies, so I started finding reviews on the different brands and this model stood out on top of the list in this price range of LESS THEN $649.00 (Most Saxophones range between $1000 and $2500). So i checked and it was on sale and I ordered it. It came within a couple days -FedEx and the package was still perfect, and when I opened the box, I was very surprised, pleasantly! The saxophone case was nice and has a fair amount of cushioning and the accessories were all in there. But the real surprise was how fantastic the saxophone itself was! It looked and is flawless, the gold color covered in lacquer is perfect. The buttons/note covers were also perfect (after removing the sponge pieces they put on to protect them in shipping), pads were all correctly installed and seated on the valves perfectly! This instrument has the weight you'd expect,l - it's brass under the coating/lacquer finish, so it's has the right 'feel' to it as well. The unlabeled mouthpiece and reeds both were actually pretty good. Many general reviews for a person starting out is to be patient with yourself when you first try to play saxphone, but after soaking (wetting the reed can be done by mouth or soaking in a cup) the reed for a couple minutes it worked first try, I was amazed! I've had it now for a couple weeks and it still is working great, I practice with a microfiber cloth stuck in the bowl to try to practice more quiet but it still projects the notes very well. I think I'm going to practice in my car when possible! All in all, this is a great instrument, NOT toy-ish at all. I also added a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and a Legere Signature 2.25 Synthetic Reed to it, as well as mouthpiece wax, which oddly didn't come with it. It does have plenty of included pieces, even a STAND! I did not add the mouthpiece and reed because the saxophone needs it to work, it worked just fine out of the box, but I had planned to add those when I bought it because they come highly recommended also. So I didn't want to have another learning curve with adding new stuff. Again, this company has a great price on this saxophone and delivered it quickly and in perfect condition. THAT condition is really good, not just for the money, which is fractional compared to many other Saxophones typically ($699-$2000 ). Many reviews said the even though they owned an expensive Saxopohne, they were going to keep this model also. That says something! Maybe when I get better, I'll feel like spending thousands of dollars on another Saxophone also.....Nah, I'm good!

perfect for beginners

I ordered this item for my son. It arrived one day earlier than was expected. I was happy about that. He is a grown man, but he likes the instrument. I am also pleased with the price when compared with other vendors.

It plays better than I expected. It came with everything you need. I had alto by Jean Paul which is a very good sax but to be honest I can blow easier on this.a good student sax for a fraction of a descent sax.

Altough the sax wasn't in the best quality, the sax was nice, and perfext for beginners. But do beware that the company does resell used, returned saxophones, so beware of that.

Christmas gift, so can't say how it sounds yet. After researching it rated up there with the $1000 saxophones so hopefully 9 yr old will be pleased with it.
