I don't know why I didn't realize the beans were already cooked. They're very reminiscent of black beans, with a fraction of the carb count. I've had great fun making easy "black bean soup" and "rice and beans" with tons of spices. I'll be ordering again, once I run out!
I recently bought 8 cans of Eden Foods' black soybeans, which I had never tried before, and I highly recommend them. They taste great (quite a bit like regular black beans), are high in protein, and reasonably priced. In addition to making them primary ingredients in many dishes, I've started keeping a can of them in the fridge to add some extra protein on the spur of the moment to other dishes I'm having. They're ready to eat right out of the can. The delivery time from Swanson was short and I plan to order more in the future.
These beans are just delicious. No salt and they are still delicious. They have a wonderful soft texture but don't disintegrate when cooked in combination with other ingredients. 8 carbs in black soy beans vs 20 carbs in a serving of cannelloni beans.
I really love these beans. I am eating low carb and these beans have the lowest carb count of any other beans out there. I have, so far, made low carb chili and bean soup with ham, and they were delicious in both dishes. They are very mild and pleasant and do not have that funky soybean flavor one associates with standard yellow/white soybeans. I will buy these again and recommend them to anyone who loves beans, but needs to watch their carbohydrate intake.
KETO ALERT?!?!?! Who says you can't have chili WITH beans and stay in Ketosis?? Check these bad-boy-black-beans out TODAY!! TONS of fiber and texture and they take on the flavor of whatever soup, stew, chili you create...at about 5-net carbs per HALF CUP SERVING of the BEANS!! (which ends up being about 1-2 net carbs per serving of whatever pot of deliciousness you are using them in!) I buy 20-cans at at time as they are almost impossible to find in any stores. Best Keto Kept Secret in the WORLD!!!
I have been buying Edens Black Soybeans for years. My local market has had an issue wirh their supplier, so I did a search online to find them. I use these in chili, burritos, soup, and numerous other recipes that call for beans. I like that they stay firm, never mushy. The low carbs is an added bonus. A big plus was Swanson shipping was very reasonable, making the price lower than what I was buying them for at my local market! I will be back for more when needed.
I bought 10 cans of these, and they are delicious. Many of the cans were severely dented when they arrived, but they were tasty and I will buy again. Hoping to find them cheaper somewhere! I'm on a low carb diet, and they are 1 net carb per serving! Yummy!
Ridiculous price — I wanted dry soy beans but somehow pushed the wrong button — can of beans for over $11 — you've got to be kidding!!!
cans dented when they arrived.
This was my third order of this product. The first one was perfect. The liquid from the drained beans was thin and easily drained. The second was a bit less thin, but still easily drained, and I even tried to save it as an aquafaba, to use in recipes. The third order mysteriously featured a very thick, jelly-like substance that the bean was in. Lo and behold, the ingredients include seaweed. I don't remember anything on the label from the original order besides black soybeans and water, maybe salt. These are now impossible to drain, and heating them makes the jelly-like seaweed (I assume that's what it is) coagulate. I can't accurately weigh the beans I'm using. I won't be ordering this again.
