These are a great low cost Rite-in-the-rain alternative. Fit in the shirt pocket, back pocket, or passport wallet well. I have used them for weeks in the jungle environment and very pleased with the result.

I haven't tested them yet under wet conditions. But sturdy notebook that will likely hold up well under rough conditions. Pages cannot be torn out, must be cut out.

I am writing this review for The Indestructible, Waterproof, Tearproof, Weatherproof Field Notebook - 3.5"x5.5" - Orange - Lined Memo Book - Pack of 4. So these are great little field books. They are pretty much exactly what it says in the title, indestructible, waterproof and weatherproof. So the outer cover is made of a 100% waterproof rubbery material. And the individual pages appear to be coated in something that makes them waterproof as well. Yet you can still easily write on them. They have a built in 6 inch ruler inside the back cover and a section for your personal info inside the front cover. These notebooks have many uses. These would come in handy for any scenario that you need something to write on that cant get wet or ruined. I will be using them in my hiking backpacks and for geocaching. I recommend these for anyone going into the field. Even if it's just for hiking. Very cool product.

these notebooks really are indestructible. you get four books in this set, they are three and a half by five and a half tall. they each have forty eight pages, they are flexible and can bend easily, you could roll them in your hand. they are bright orange so easy to see and find. now the best part is they are really hard to destroy. I literally ran the book, pages exposed under the faucet, nothing happened, the water just bounced off. so I thought well let me write something on them, then run it under the water. I thought the ink was going to smear, nope the water just beaded up and ran off. the only thing that happened was the pages stuck together when wet, but you can just pull them apart and wipe them off. really amazing. you don't need any special pens. then I tried to tear a page, had trouble at first, but I had success when I pinched with both hands close to the page and torn, the pages are what seems to be made from plastic like substance. these books would be great for anyone who needs notes outside, in watery conditions, rain, boats, etc. they really are amazing!

Although use of paper has been decreasing day by day in my house just as in the world, sometimes you feel the need to use them over technology, isn't it? My children may never say yes to that. My wife and I sometimes prefer paper, for example, when we air travel, we like to list items in each bag in a note (then take a picture of the note with my phone too), so in case we lose a bag (and phone), we exactly know what was in there. I find this field/memo book perfect for that use. I was intrigued by its description of indestructible, waterproof, tear-proof and weatherproof. This set of four books are indeed high quality, the material is very smooth. I tried to tear small piece of a page, I couldn't and due to smooth material I can see why water wouldn't stay on it. The size is very good and it also has place your contact information, if you lose it. If you need a small note book for any reason, this is the product to look for.

My kids were having trouble taking notes for their botany class because it's been either raining or damp. Their field notebooks were getting damp even when under the umbrella or in their back pockets. These little books came and saved our class. As soon as they got them, they ran out thru the drizzle and discovered that not all writing utensils work the same. I decided to do a test with different writing utensils to see which ones work better than others. Because of the waterproof layer, not all writing utensils work the same. The picture shows my results. On both pages, I wrote the same things. I used ballpoint pen, permanent marker, gel pen, pencil, pencil color, and crayon. The left side shows when it was written on a dry page. The right side is after running water thru it and wiping with my finger. The gel pen faded with the running water before wiping. The pencil was very light but stayed even after rubbing. Crayon is also hard to read on either wet or dry and some of it wiped away. The ballpoint pen, permanent marker, and pencil colors worked very well on wet and dry and didn't wipe away. These would be the best for note taking on damp days. Both the pencil and pencil color erased easily. My kids are now using pencil colors for notes and pens for final drafts. The ruler on the inside of the back cover has come in handy more than once. The small size makes it easy to use our hands as support instead of each other's backs. The inside of the front cover has a place for details about the owner and projects.

So I'm the type of person to have little notebooks everywhere. I'm talking in my car, on my nightstand, at my workstation (I work from home so it's necessary, trust me!), etc. I gave one to our 8 y/o son and my fiance to get more opinions on the notebook. We absolutely love these notebooks. We love the fact that we can "erase" everything including ink (using alcohol). However, "erasing" ink leaves a shadow of the text behind but not enough to not be able to read anything that was written over it. We've found that it's best to use a fine point ballpoint pen or large gauge mechanical pencil (0.7 seems to work best). My gel gel ink pens didn't dry so I'd avoid using those. The paper cannot be torn but when you try to, it just stretches the paper and, even then, you can still write on it. As for the waterproof bit: wow. I wish I could've had these notebooks when I was a home inspector because I worked in the rain on many occasions and this would've saved many notes. Water just runs off the paper and doesn't soak in at all. It didn't make my ink or pencil markings run whatsoever. Overall, I definitely recommend these notebooks for families and professionals alike!
