For me this is the best, funniest, and most tender version. Though the 1996 Gwyneth Paltrow version is excellent; and their comic timing spot on, Jony Lee Miller's timing, gestures and expressions are hilarious in a high comedy way. Romola Garai's performance, though goofy in spots, and not as refined as Gwyneth Paltrow's, is priceless and amusing.

If you're a Jane Austin fan, as I am, you will love this version of Emma. I was just grateful that Walmart had it and I got it at a reasonable price.

This is the ultimate version of Jane Austen's "Emma". The cast includes Romola Garai as Emma, Jonny Lee Miller as Mr Knightly and Michael Gambon as Mr Woodhouse. Emma is a young woman who is beautiful and wealthy. She loves to play matchmaker, but things don't always turn out as she plans. (The movie "Clueless" is based on Emma.) The costumes, sets and locations are also wonderful. You will definitely enjoy this 4 episode mini series from the BBC.

I absolutely love this version of Emma. It is my favorite of all the various versions. And Walmart had the best price of all the retailers I checked.

Out of the five different film versions of Emma that I've seen (including the more modern adaptation, Clueless), this is by FAR my favorite.
