I use this when I'm out on my morning jogs and it's pitch black outside. Gives great light and helps me see in front of me. The battery lasts for many uses and the straps are comfortable. The controls are easy to use while I'm jogging to adjust light

This thing blasts a stupid-bright beam (200+ lumens) straight where I'm looking, no flashlight juggling required. I can spot a black Lego on black carpet at midnight. The light can be moved into different positions so I can point the light straight ahead or down at whatever Im looking at. I bought one of these 8 years ago and have been happy with it's performance. I wanted to replace it with a new one though because elastic in the headband is worn out, and one of the rubber boots covering a switch has a hole in it. At the time of ordering, Walmart had the lowest price.

I want a headlamp with a red light setting to maintain night vision, and it's important that it be easy to operate--in particular, that there's no danger of accidentally turning on the bright white light when I want the red light. I really liked an older model, which seems to be discontinued, in which one button simply turned the red LEDs on and off, and the other cycled the white light through bright, dim, and wide-angle settings. This one works differently. It's fine for what I wanted, but the button functions are unnatural and tricky, and the "focus" feature isn't really what you might think. The right button cycles the light through three settings: red, bright white, dim white. Fortunately, when it is on red, if you wait a few seconds, the next press just turns it off--it doesn't cycle to the white settings and blind you. It's not bad, but not as simple as one button for red and one button that goes to bright white on the first press. I wouldn't call this "digital focussing." The center LED has a reflector and a fairly tight focus. Two flanking side LEDs have diffusers and produce a fairly wide spread. The left button lets "focus" by relative brightness. You can have a bright tight beam and dim flanking beams or bright flanking beams and a dim center beam. It remembers the setting. This is all sorta weird. The widest setting isn't very wide or very evenly lit--you've seen any "COB" headlamps they are much better for general area illumination or reading a book in a tent.

These headlamps are great for using in the dark. We go on adventures to abandoned haunted places and use many lighting sources so we can see because they do not have light. These headlamps work great! They are easy to adjust and put batteries in. They have different light modes which is nice. They are bright too so you can easily see in the dark. They are comfy enough for being a headlamps. I always prefer headlamps that take batteries over rechargeable ones because it is easier to replace batteries than try to charge when you don't have a charge source. The strap is comfy and not hard to adjust if you need to. You can wear it on your head, or if you want to you can just wear it around your wrist. Either way it is a great light source if you explore dark places and want to have your hands free from flashlights!

I purchased this to replace one I used on pretty much daily basis, crocheing at night mostly. That one I had for at least 25 years, all I ever had to do is change batteries and it just kept on ticking! Now this one has a push button (not a slide) it is not easy to use. they say it has 5 different light's, My husband and I have only found 3. The night vision is wierd there's like several dots you see when thats on. One light is very narrow forward, so I really can't recomend this headlamp.

I feel conflicted about recommending this light. On one hand it is very bright for it's size, with well focused beams. On the other hand, the on off switch is awkward to use, if you have bigger than average hands. Unlike my older unit, this one has recessed light switches not raised making it more difficult to turn it off and on then it should be. For that I give this a 3.75 out of five.
