Paste is better

Gregg October 8, 2016

If you can find it the paste is longer lasting and easier to apply. Every bit as good as Orajel. No matter how these medications are labeled; max, maximum, severe, ultra, etc, they all have the same active ingredient. They also all contain 20% of this ingredient. So don't pay more for packaging /marketing, they all have the same thing in them.

Stops the ouch.

Magato3 September 14, 2015

I just purchased 2 new tubes of Equate Orasol. My adult daughter had borrowed mine. She really had a sore place in her mouth and had called her dentist. Meanwhile this has given her much needed relief. Because it definitely works for mouth problems, I have used it for other things, kind of "off label" like trying to remove a very painful splinter from my grandson's finger. That type of thing. It "saves" my nerves and obliterates his pain.

Best bang for your buck!

Emily January 10, 2021

Cheap and super effective. Saved my life from debilitating tooth pain that was sending shock waves into my nerves. No reason to buy brand name - this one works great. Highly recommend. Will stock up in case of another emergency — driving around in a lot of pain trying to find relief sucks. Every medicine cabinet should have this product!

Generic Ambesol

Similar to Ambesol by taste and sensation. Slightly less pain relief, but still stronger than other gels. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Better Than Name Brand

JayCee January 4, 2016

I have had quite a few dental issues over the last several years. I have tried everything from Orajel, Ambesol, generic brands from other stores, but none have worked as well as Equate Orasol! Not thin like the other lady said at all. Not a paste like some of them are and you have goop in your mouth for a lengthy period of time. It is the perfect consistency to get right to the area in which it is needed. I was bummed when I went to WalMart today to get some and it wasn't available. It is the only thing that works for me.

very short time of numbing

Catlady71 July 25, 2020

how many canker sore can really hurt inside the mouth. So I decided to try the Walmart brand because it was cheaper of course. it numbness or a little bit just enough. I could eat and drink and didn't bother me so much but the stuff usually gets on the lips and it does not on the lips. It was only for a short time and numb the lips so I'm not sure if it's workable for canker sores because of all the moisture in your mouth.

Decent for price, not an exact dupe for Orajel

Lucy June 1, 2021

I bought this when they were out of stock of the orajel I normally use, and was somewhat disappointed. It does numb, but it didn't seem to last as long and was pretty unpleasant tasting compared to the orajel. The consistency is more liquidy than the orajel, so it tends to rub off easier inside the mouth. Not super great, but will definitely work in a pinch and for the price it is decent.
