this clock has been in shipment for a long time. nobody's fault. mother nature decided to freeze and blankets the snow on half of the United States. I just got it today. I am impressed with the looks and the quality of the clock. the only drawback was the twister knob to wind it up. it was small in comparison to my big hands. once I got it wound up it took off. reminds me of going to my grandparents house. wonderful memories!
Loud for an alarm,it is not. If you have the slightest hearing problem, this alarm is not for you. I guarantee you will sleep through it ,unless you have the clock taped to your ear . I am very disappointed. Is there a Loud alarm out there? I do not think so.
Works well enough. Haven't used or needed a wind-up alarm clock for a long time. This alarm is just loud enough (I wear ear plugs to sleep). Noted that clock has a very soft "tick" (not an issue for me). Clock and bell mechanism both wind in the counter clockwise direction (seems odd). Face doesn't glow as they once did but I think they have gotten away from that (another cancer risk). Don't expect clock to run much beyond 24 hours (maybe not even that) without re-winding. For $12, it does what I need.
It runs fast. Have to reset the time daily. Tried to use the manual scale on back to slow down, it slid out of sight ( can't use now) ! The alarm is not loud and short in duration. I forgot, buy cheap ~ get cheap ! My fault I guess.......... Lesson learned.
Second identical clock purchased from you and it does not operate . Both clocks had mechanical defects, this one alarm will not shut off with the push button on the rear of the clock. Alarm will not shut off with push button on rear.. Then to rewind and reset alarm, must hold push button down until alarm about 50 % rewound.I did not expect much for $15.84 and Was right. I really needed a LOUD alarm and that works fine. Otherwise clock is a piece of junk.
The clock hands and hours are barely painted with phosphorescent paint and can't be noticed at night even with low surrounding light. The winding knobs are so close to other parts in the back that its very difficult for normal fingers to wind the clock or alarm. I had to adjust the clock to the maximum to keep the right time from running too slow.
The clock stops running several times during the day/night. It is very unreliable. It is hard to wind. The knobs are too tight. I threw the clock in the trash.
This clock has not worked since the first day we got it. You can set the time; however, it does not keep the time. The hands stay at exactly the same time that you set it to start with.
i bought this clock for my father who wanted an old style wind up clock. he is 95 and just cannot learn how to set a digital clock and lives several states away. he just received it from me and it only ran 3 hours with the first wind. he said that he wound it til it stopped and and that was only about 4 turns and did not want to overwind. he is also having a problem getting the time adjustment right...always too fast or too slow. he said that it is supposed to be good for 3o or so hours on a single wind (not unusual) but it has never gone more than several hours at a time in about a 2 day period. he is going to work with it another day or so and if it still won't work more than a few hours it will be returned. i gave it an overall poor because although it was inexpensive and looks good and was easy to set up with anticipated features, the bottom line is that it doen't seem to work as expected.
After setting the alarm and clock times and winding both keys, I found that the alarm time setting moved with the arms of the clock. So after setting the alarm time for 6 o'clock, the next time I checked, it had moved to 8 o'clock which would have made me late for my appointment. I returned the item.
