I catsit for people, and only do one cat at a time, but this week, I'm fostering a kitten... So I needed a set of baby gates to keep the kitten safe from the big boy cats. I double stacked these child gates in the doorway of a spare bedroom and they work perfectly to keep the kitten separated from the adult cats.
We are using these gates inside and outside to block the bathroom and our deck stairs for our German Shepherd puppies. They are sturdy and do not damage by drilling holes. A little tricky to learn to operate at first but then easy peasy. Great product for kids AND dogs!!!
I had ordered 2, but one was broken. The wooden section had cracked in half. The other one was a little clumsy to install, but I got there. It worked out fine for my needs. Depending on your needs, you may need something different.
The baby gate is fine. However, disappointed that I ordered 2 of them and only got one - although they showed in stock online, apparently that was not correct and the other half of my order has been canceled.
I am a loyal Evenflo gate customer now for 2 generations and was excited to find a gate that was taller and wider for my living room opening. I found the gate latch being very difficult to unlatch unless locking bar is in just the right “spot” And the side of the gate being split where the locking bar is inserted and the end of locking bar being what looks like chewed. Very disappointed.
Just an ok friction gate. The plastic lock that locks the cross beam is an overly complicated change from the old metal spring clip. I struggled every time with it. Luckily the gate is cheap. I have replaced it with one of those semi-permanent walj thru gates, that are ~4 times the price but none of the headaches
With the Evenflo name I expected better quality; my youngest is 18 so I guess I haven't been paying attention. I bought two as puppy gates, but I didn't want to damage walls using the hardware , so I'm just wedging them behind furniture in spots I want. There are notches to set the width (with mild pressure), but if your doorway doesn't match, it won't stay up. They are quite flimsy. If I were expecting grandchild anytime soon, I would buy something much better. I'm training my large puppy, so hopeful she will respect the gate as a boundary - she could destroy it in an afternoon if she chose to. I did buy them on sale, so I don't feel like I've lost, but definitely do not recommend.
I recently moved into an apartment that has stairs and so I purchased this gate to keep my grandchildren from falling down the stairs. I had 5 children and use the old type of gate with a different latch. The latch on this gate is horrible. It is hard to deal with and it just makes it not work right? I don't I just have to get a different type of gate.
Images 1-3 show the gate I wanted. The old style where you just push the bar down and it catches. What I got was something with a plastic thing you have to slide off the end, but it doesn't just slide like it should. I shouldn't have had to look at further images to see there was a different gate being sold. It takes 20 times as long to open and close with this stupid new plastic piece on it. Should not be sending me something different than what I paid for. Need to remove those first three images from the page.
I bought this particular gate because the description said it could be used for a 52" opening. My opening is 48", the gate is not sturdy, my 3 yo grandson pulled it down. I would not recommend this gate for wide areas. The height was good, the lock could be improved.
