received this item from the Walmart Spark Review Program for no compensation - just an honest and unbiased review. Thank you!! This EverStart Heavy Duty Metal Toggle Switch can be used for any installation requiring up to 35 amps of current running on a 12 volt direct current line. All plated in chrome accents on the parts you see after installation, it features a humongous toggle switch and faceplate clearly delineating the on and off positions. Install is easy with 2 tabs with phillips head screws – just connect your stripped wire and tighten – and you’re ready to go. Great for specialty lighting, or maybe even a nitrous oxide kit. Me, I’ll set it up as a dummy switch and call it my passenger seat auto-ejector switch – ala James Bond! Easy to self-install!
Heavy Duty Metal Toggle Switch This is a 35 Amp 12 volt DC switch. It can be used a number of different ways. For me, I had some DC lights that I wanted to install in my small work shop. I used an AC to DC converter to convert the AC 110 volt power to 12 volt DC power. I then placed the toggle switch in-line between the output of the converter and the input for the lights. The switch is then used to turn the lights on and off. The toggle switch only has two connectors, one for the power input (hot) and the other for ground. It’s a simple on/off switch. The instructions call for an in-line fuse holder. An in-line fuse is an important safety feature and should ALWAYS be used. The in-line fuse holder and fuse are not included. The package does not come with any real instructions. If you are not sure about just how to use or install this switch be sure to find someone who knows what they are doing. It’s a great little switch when used properly. I would purchase more of these switches in the future, if needed.
I have installed and used several toggle switches over my years or tinkering – from dune buggy ignition and accessories to 4WD truck lighting. This is probably the most heavy duty switch I have ever used. Just be aware that that heavy duty and higher amperage rating comes as a trade off to a very large switch body and actual toggle (even though I think they could have made the toggle smaller). However, this is intended for heavy load applications where the user would not particularly care about the looks but might even prefer a beefy looking switch. The switch is rated to 35 amps with a 12 volt system which is a pretty large load. It has solid construction and a chrome look toggle which is the only part you see once installed. Easy installation – just drill a hole insert switch from behind and tighten the included nut down from the front. It even includes a plate (goes under the nut) that indicates on-off, even though most folks install so that the switch is up when on. The switch goes inline and the wires connect by heavy duty screws on the back of the switch. They recommend to use an inline fuse also, but for most loads, I recommend using a separate relay – this also relieves the load and wear on the switch. This is a heavy duty switch for the cost.
Walmart Metal Toggle Switch #10884W Rugged Metal Housing High Current Rating (35A @ 12V Very Low On Resistance (<30 mOhms) Firm switching action Attractive Switch Appearance One of the switch contacts is approximately 33 thousandths of an inch (0.033") from the conductive metal case. The case will most likely be grounded through the mounting bushing creating a potential short to ground. This could result in a direct short from the battery to ground, causing a possible wiring fire. Soldering wires to terminals is not possible as the heat will damage the switch. The contact 'foot' is too large for its half of the bottom of the Switch.
Hey, it's a toggle switch. Nothing exotic about it. But it definitely is heavy duty, with a thick metal case and an extra long toggle that has a nice snap when you flip it. Just for the heck of it, I hooked it up to an ohmmeter. No measurable resistance in the "on" position, no leakage in the "off." It's a good one.
This toggle switch is nice and heavy duty, It has the directions on the back of the container to tell you haw to apply it which for me was great. The directions were simple and too the point. The company also added additional tips like knowing what the amperage needed would be before and not to use this toggle switch if more voltage was gong to run through the switch. I also liked that you can easily see the off and on direction of the switch so when you install the switch you can make sure it is in the correct direction. It will come in handy in future usage for sure. The only thing I would have preferred to see is that it was made in the USA.
Easy to mount perfect design for what I needed and wires good
work perfectly
I really like this toggle switch. It is easy to install for use. It is quite easy to use. Not hard to toggle and change up. It seems heavy duty and will last a long time.
I find that this switch is sturdy and easy to use, but able to with stand heavy use. The area used to flip the switch is sturdy and substantial enough to grab with a grip using the thumb and forefinger to give a good flip. It has a plate labelled on and off on the opposite direction if you choose to use it. I would recommend for a multitude of different applications.
