This is coconut coir. You soak it in water before adding to the soil mix. It helps with just the right water retention, makes a nice light soil mix that's easy for both roots and earthworms to tunnel through. I use it in my raised bed planters as well as large pots.

These type of soil has been in my garden supply some time; they aerate the potted plants well and make the mix quite light and fluffy for my plants. Cocounut Coir is great not only for plants but the eco friendliness it lends. they will take a little patience in learning how to use, but well worth the little effort.

I have used this type of product before. it actually helps my outside plants. it will gradually disintegrate to help your soil. I feel like that it helps the ground from being too wet or too dry. The only reason why I give it a four-star is because it was a little hard to break apart. I had been used to more of a brick type which was easily taken apart. all you do is pour water on it and it will swell up and then mixed with your dirt

Amazing how much you get , fluffing up, light weight, with it's expandability after adding water and it retains the moisture as well. I needed something to cover around my garden plant area for the hot and dry summer months other than straw, as I am allergic to straw beds. This stuff even is great for rooting bulbs or cuttings on my small potted container.

I really like that when you don't have soil available, you can put this hard block in a tub and pour water over it ,and the water breaks it down into a usable soil substitute. I then mix that with potting soil. My garden is all in 10 gal grow bag now, and it's thriving. I like how consistent it is every time I prepare it for a new grow bag. I have at least 30 right now all started from seeds. I started the seeds in 1 gal container, and within a few weeks I transplanted them in to the grow bags. If It works for me , it will give you a green thumb too. This is my first year using only seeds, and this stuff is great!

This stuff is really great. It does take a little work to get it watered down and broken apart but definitely worth the effort! It's wonderful for putting in new plants. This gives the plants good drainage as they establish. Once it has been watered it completely fills a standard wheel barrow.

So far so good it's coco coir and it's compressed 8.7lbs for I think 14$ not bad I did boil water and gave it a good soaking first to kill any larva that may be living in the soil will do a ppm test to see the salt content I think you could easily fill 4x5 gallon buckets with it. As long as it does its job for my tomatoes

I have ordered coco coir from Walmart in the past many times. This order had a lot of foreign objects mixed in. I found pieces of metal, rocks, leaves, large chunks of coconut shell and long coconut shell fibers. I also have noticed a difference in the results. I saw a lot of mold in my plants that I have not seen with the previous orders. It resulted in lost product and lost revenue. I am very unhappy with this order.
