Expert Gardener Metal Hose Shut-Off Connector

This was the perfect fix for my outdoor leaky faucet. The faucet leaked and I live alone and have no 'handyman' talent. Rather than have the expense of calling a plumber to fix it, I figured I'd try this first and it worked perfectly. It was VERY easy to install and use, even for an old lady.

These metal end-of-hose shutoff valves are larger than most and make it very easy to turn the valve. I recommend them especially for older gardeners who have problems with tiny handles that get tight over time and tend to cramp fingers and hands.

Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I got these. They are very good. I got two of them and I love them. They shut off the water so I can run around and turn it off and I'm a old lady so I don't move very fast so it helps me out a lot.

Local hardware stores charge way too much for these simple shut-offs. Tried our luck with this one. Quite pleased. Fair Price and does the job. Big enough and not cheesey. Buying a few more for the farm.

I would pay more for less. That plastic thing is annoying!!! Garbage! I would pay extra if it was removed

worked fine the first time - only a little drippage. tried to use again 2 weeks later and it seems the plastic stripping has weakened and water sprays everywhere.

I received the Expert Gardener Metal Hose Shutoff to test and to give my honest opinion about how it worked.. When I first opened the package I was pleased to see the hose shutoff was made of metal. I thought this was going to work perfect for my hose I use to wash my dog with. I like a steady even flow while bathing her but wanted the ease of being able to turn it off with one hand. I was excited to try it so I turned it on and off about a dozen times and it seemed to work well. I got my dog in the bath and with keeping one hand on her( she's a runner), I flipped the shutoff and it worked fairly well. I noticed the more times I shut the connector off the more it leaked. Then the worst happened! It froze into the off position. I had to turn my water off at the source and try to get it to open. I used spray lubricant and pliers to try to get it to to break free. No such luck. I took it off the hose and sprayed lubricant into the opposite end hoping it would release that way. It just would not release at all. I even took the screw out of the plastic shut off to adjust the flow and that didn't work either. It looks like it is made of quality materials when you first open it but I noticed the more I worked with it the more it peeled. I give the Expert Gardener Metal Hose Shutoff 1 star. Only because the plastic lever that turns the water on and off held up to a lot of work trying to fix it. . Once that ball locked inside there, there was no fixing it. Don't waste your money on this item. The idea was good but sadly just did not work. It is just made too cheaply and doesn't work properly. I had to hunt my dog down and take her in the house to finish her bath!

1 star because i did not receive the item(s) i purchased (2 X single hose valves). walmart canceled 1 valve and sent the double hose valve was substituted for the 2nd valve i wanted. so i didnt get my order at all. since the valves were less than $3 each it was not worth it to go through the return process at the store. so i paid $3 to walmart for nothing and ordered the valves i wanted from somewhere else.
