We planted June 22nd, it's only been 1 week and 1 day with weather ranging from 90's to low 40's over this last week, crazy Idaho weather… I am thoroughly shocked with as much growth as we have had already. We rototiller the yard and laid weed spray 1 week prior to placing the seed. No fertilizer, no top soil or covering on the seed and it has done better than I could ever imagine. So excited to have a backyard!
This seed has been fast growing and after a month of consistent sprinkler watering it has matured and started filling out. This seed seems just as good as the brand names for a great price!
It's exactly what I needed,it germinated really quickly and I didn't have to give it a lot of water before it started sprouting. I actually went in store and bought some more for my backyard.
I live in country where the varmints (big and small) are constantly messing with my lawns by ripping holes, etc. Therefore, I frequently have to re-seed and re-grow bare spots. After much reasearch and personal experience, I have settled on this particular brand and type of grass seed from Walmart. I simply sprinkle this grass seed evenly over the bare areas and then lightly cover the seed with some Miracle-Gro® "Cactus, Palm and Citrus Soil" (a type of compost with some fertilizer in it). Keep moist for 10-14 days until you see new grass growth. Then water the lawn as you regularly would. Works great. I know from multiple applications!
I have been purchasing expensive brands for years, trying to get grass to grow in our sandy northern soil. This is the first brand I've ever bought that sprouted within seven days and completely filled the space within two weeks. I've never been more impressed!
I live in gardening zone 6A, I used these seeds to fix a few brown spots in the yard. I laid the seed down and covered it with a layer of straw to protect the seeds from birds and wind. Within a month I had thick, full grass. I was worried I might have to do it twice because we had some unseasonally cold weather after I already put it down. Thankfully it doesn't seem to have affected it, it's soft and plushy. This was in my backyard which had some shade during the day for a few hours.
Beautiful grass, been using this seed for several years now. Used a bag of Kentucky 31 fescue one time and the grass looked like crab grass. This is way better grass. Depending on the temp I had the seed spouting in 3 days with heavy rain warm temps and 7-10 days cooler temp and sprinkler.
I read descriptions of many types of grass before choosing Expert Gardener Tall Fescue Grass Seed Mix, for Sun to Partial Shade. I wanted to choose something that would be best for my geographic location in NC, the partial sun and shade in my yard, and the time of year that I was planting. I followed instructions exactly. My yard had been dug up after having a new septic field so it was all red clay and sand, not very good for planting anything. I smoothed the dirt down, dampened the top to hold the seed in place, spread the grass seed per the bag instructions, watered again lightly, covered it with hay, watered it again, and watered it twice a day for a week. It is already showing green grass up through the hay in only a week so I am hopeful for a beautiful yard of bright green grass soon. I planted the first week of September when temps were in the high 80s and no rain, so conditions weren't the best, but I didn't want the entire back yard of dirt so I took a chance and planted and it seems to be working out. This grass seed has done exactly what it said it would and I am very pleased.
It literally didn't grow at all. This is not my first time starting grass seed, I I took care to do things right. I‘m guessing I got a bad batch but I am definitely disappointed.
I purchased two bags of this grass seed to apply to the screened top soil I put down. The conditions were ideal for the new grass seed and watered every day. It is now over two weeks and not one single seed has germinated
