Farberware Can Opener and Knife Sharpener, Bottle Opener with Removable Cutting Lever Black

This farberware Eletric can opener is so convenient, as it opens my canned goods with a breeze. I've been using manual can openers for so many years that i forgot how easy, and effortless the electric ones were. Thanks farberware for taking the effort out of opening cans before cookig.

I got the Farberware Can Opener Black, small kitchen appliance. 120V~60Hz~70W. I’ve actually never owned an electric can opener so I’m not sure how this one compares to other electric can openers, but so far I’m loving it over a hand-crank one! We had a couple different hand crank can openers over the years and they all had their issues. They would either repeatedly fall off the track or not cut all the way around the can. I finally got this one and the 1st can I tried to open with it was a big family size can of spaghetti sauce. I was nervous it wouldn’t be able to hold such a big heavy can, but once I got the magnet to catch it and the blade to pierce, it had no problem holding it in place and cutting the whole way around with ease. It still takes me a few seconds to get some of the cans I’ve tried secured. I wish there was a more clear way to secure the cans. Usually I just kind of hold the can under the magnet and move it around until the magnet catches and hope its secured enough not to fall off and usually it is, It just always makes me nervous. I’m sure I’ll get better at it the more I use it though. It's faster and easier than a hand-crank can opener and it leaves a nice clean edge. I wish I had switched a long time ago.

I am so happy I got this Farberware Electric Can Opener. I have used a hand crank that kills my wrist and hardly works, and also tried one of those side cutters that won't turn off after finishing the cut, so yes, I am so happy I got this. I immediately read the directions that came with it and plugged it in. I could not wait to sharpen all my knives which have seen better cutting days (actually, dull knives are dangerous). So I was able to sharpen about 8 of my knives that were not serrated edged and they came out marvelously. I tested them on a tomato that I had a hard time cutting before the sharpening. They sliced through that tomato like butter. Then I opened a can of tuna which is small, and the magnet on the lid holder did a fine job of cutting without stalling or dropping the can. Then on to some shrimp and finally the tall tomato sauce can. There was no problem at all handling the tall/heavier can, no dropping of the can or mess to clean up! The magnet/cutting edge comes off easy for cleaning. I am glad I came back into this century and would recommend this can opener to anyone who needs a smooth performing electric can opener!

I love the convenience of an electric can opener. It's one less thing to struggle with when you're cooking, especially if you have arthritis. The magnet is fantastic, it holds a 24oz can with ease. You just press the lever down, and it takes care of everything by itself. The blade leaves the lid with a crimped edge. It's not nearly as sharp and dangerous as a straight edge, and the rim of the can is left smooth. It's easy to remove the blade for cleaning, you simply lift and pull out. I like the fact that it has a knife sharpener, my old one didn't have one and it's a feature I really wanted (it even has a bottle opener). My one complaint; I find the cord too short. I live in an older home and don't have many outlets, so I had to place it in an awkward corner.

I've never owned an electric can opener, and I'm really glad I got one now. It couldn't be easier to use. I was afraid that it wouldn't be able to hold anything heavy; that as soon as the can was opened, it would fall and spill the contents everywhere. That didn't happen. The can was secured until released. Really nice ! It also has a knife sharpener and bottle opener, so it has multi-uses. I can see myself using this for a long time.

The Farberware Electric Can Opener is the easiest electric can opener I have ever used. It opens cans flawlessly. It’s not loud either. I know I had some other brands that were really loud and bulky. As of now this one beats them all in my opinion. It has a magnet for when the blade cuts the lid open, the magnet attaches to the lid. Which is great so it doesn’t fall in the can that you are opening. This electric can opener has several features others don’t have. I like that I can store it away because the plug can go into the back out of sight. It has a bottle opener in the front foe easy access. An added bonus which I was shocked it has, is a knife sharpener. If you have arthritis in your hands this is a lifesaver. For someone like me who has an auto immune disease that causes me to not use my hands properly at times. I can’t use the manual can openers. This would make a simple but thoughtful gift for those that struggle. I love it and I’m so grateful for this company creating products that makes everyday things in life a bit easier.

Great can opener with knife sharpener! Love that it has a compartment on the back to store the cord so it doesn't look so messy. I can unplug, refold and slide the cord in the back very easily. Sharp looking and works like a can opener should. I have bought many in the past that open a can so far and then it lets go. No problem here. Very happy and highly recommend.

ordered for 80 yr old mother who has arthritis pain in hands and one she had hurt to use. it arrived in good time, pleasantly delivered by nice driver to her and she loves it. HooAh!

* Faberware Can Opener BLK* I haven’t bought an electric can opener since the 1980’s, so I thought I’d try one out and see if they are any better than they were back then. I remember they were clunky, slow to use and hard to get the can set just right to start to open, and were difficult to get a decent cut. It was just so much faster to get a hand can opener and less aggravation to do it by hand. *My First Try* I first noticed a big difference between the old style and the new: you have to put the cutter attachment on yourself. That was not an improvement. If I buy a product that small, it should come altogether, come on, man! And yes, I didn’t read the directions first, and yes, I put it on backwards first. Lol After turning it around finally and checking with directions and griping that I shouldn’t have to be putting an appliance this small together, I was pretty sure I was ready to use this device. Then the first problem began. I had a lot of trouble getting the can to get gripped by the can opener. I even had to bend over and look under it to try to line the product up to the can and do all sorts of maneuvering to get the can clipped under the metal grip for it to hold the can. By the time I actually got it to start to open the can, it had spilled some of the broth out, but I was happy it was finally working for me. It did seem to hold the can once it was mounted and cut it just fine. Unfortunately at least 10 minutes or so had passed so it wasn’t time efficient. *Features* This product is black and goes with a lot of my appliances which is a plus. It has a nice cache to put the cord in the back for storage when not in use. *Conclusion* Although people may prefer electric can openers to hand can openers I still prefer the hand held for now because I am too clumsy to operate these, but I will practice on this one and maybe I will get better. It has promise, but I thought it had that 30 years ago too, and it still seems to be hard in the same area I had trouble with 30 years ago unfortunately.
