I unboxed it and immediately put it to work. It was extremely easy to set up and it worked very well. I liked the delivery on the next day and it was still in the manufacturer's box, so it was easy to tell it was shipped and delivered in pristine shape.
I chose this model specifically for two things. The first is the drawer to remove shredded material. The second is the consistent running time of 20 minutes. I wanted a machine I could rely on and would last. I am a firm believer in, "you get what you pay for."
Had a Fellows shredder for over 20 years, bought this one to replace it. Like the 2 switch off and on. With children use both, and without leave the panel one on and flip the switch at the back to turn it on and off. Works very well, love being able to see when it's almost ready to empty the basket.
Our shredder of over 15 years finally went belly up. We wanted a crosscut shredder that could also handle heavy duty shredding. Our old shredder was a Fellowes and since it lasted so long, we decided on another Fellowes shredder. This one is a typical Fellowes, well built, and works absolutely flawlessly! Walmart had the best price and the availability and was a very easy purchase. It was delivered the same day for free.
This is a great shredder in my opinion. I purchased a couple smaller ones different brand and they did not last long and kept getting jammed up with only one or two pieces of paper fed at a time. Still new but so far very happy with quality of shredder.
The brand is what pushed me into buying this shredder. I had a larger version, using it for heavy duty shredding. It just died after many years. Easy assembly. Compact. Functional. Have only had it a couple of weeks, so will change rating as I utilize this product.
The product met our expectations. We have purchased Fellowes shredders before because of its reputation as an office machine manufacturer. Other than that, we find ourselves a bit dismayed that these machines are outsourced to the far east, and not made here in the states. Don't get me wrong, the product quality, ease of use, and being ideal for home, is perfect for our needs.. Set up is not "Rocket Science".
I've used Fellowes shredders for years and they have never let me down. This shredder is set up in my garage so I can shred all the trash (junk mail) the US Postal Service delivers. It will shred the large thick mail trash with ease, same with those scam credit cards that are delivered, while still in the envelope. Great way to protect yourself from identity theft.
Great for home use. Our old Fellowes shredder lasted about 25 years, and this new 12-sheet one seems to be pretty durable too. It easily handled our usual 8 sheets, or less, feeds, and ran for about an hour without a single cool-down period.
The shredder broke down within 24 hours. I had oiled it according to the manufacturer instructions, was careful not to put too much through the slot at one time, and indeed the blades looked pristine. There was nothing caught in them or anything obviously blocking them. I used it for a half an hour, went away, and when I came back the next day it had simply stopped working. The motor was running, and the blades were moving, but it was unable to recognize that there was paper in the slot. When I contacted the manufacturer they had me do a few diagnostics which yielded nothing useful, and they ultimately instructed me to return it to the seller. maybe I got a bad unit, but I certainly expect a shredder at this price point to last longer than 24 hours! do not recommend.
