Filtrete 15x20x1 Air Filter, MPR 1500 MERV 12, Advanced Allergen Reduction, 1 New Filter

I find that during pollen seasons and forest fires that breathing is always easier inside with these filters. I have had a lot of time to test this out as I am over 60 and switched to other air filters to test those as well.

I love these filters for keeping my air clean from dust and allergens. I have used them for more than two years, I don't know how they could be improved!

These air filters are superior in quality and function, I even use the highest filtration level as a top notch replacement for hepa filtration in appliances and air filters at my business for decades now. One will easily be able to discern the difference in air quality when in use in just a few minutes. One can even make an inexpensive quality air cleaner with an ordinary household fan and and air filter simply taped to it as is demonstrated by a Professor at the University of Michigan on you tube. Really a need for most homes in all American cities today.

I have been using these filters for years. They do a great job and seem to help reduce allergens which affect the family. Tip, to make removal quick and simple for replacement, add a 2" - 3" piece of 3M electrical tape to the corner. They lift right out!

For the past 15 years I have gone out of my way to make sure the air I breathed was clean so I have used Filtrete 1500 or above Air Filters and changed them every month. Your suppose to change them every 3 months but in Phoenix Arizona one month's dirt is enough for me. I have experimented with a few different brands of air filters but those always seemed to not get black after a months use like the Filtrete do or for a couple of them even get a little grey. Filtrete Air Filters are great at getting dirty and the dirtier the filter the cleaner the air.

Been a fan of the 3M filters for years. We had our furnace serviced earlier in the month, and the service technician commented that it was nice servicing a furnace when the filter isn't extremely dirty. I told him that we use the 1500 series and change it every other month. He told me we could do the same thing, but use the cheapest blue filters and replace them every other month. I disagreed, and told him that we can agree to disagree, that the 1500 series keeps our house clean and has less dust than the other filters. He then changed his mind or at least his comment, and said that our house does seem really clean and less dust than most homes, and that the 1500 series might be the best choice for our home. In Atlanta, the pollen count can reach over 9000. To put that in perspective, "High" starts at 150. It is so bad that I have to change out the filter once a month. When using this filter, I can breath a lot easier during the pollen seasons. I am thoroughly angry at Home Depot for no longer carrying this product. I tried the Honeywell equivalent and the filter failed miserably, so much so that it developed a quarter size hole in the center of the filter. Luckily I found them online and now order them in bulk.

I have been stepping up the level of filtration over this last year. we both have respiratory issues. not sure what is the biggest offender. we may be there. Problem' other than the MPR number or Merv number you show no comparison that would cause me to believe that the higher mpr filter would be better for us. there is a chart on the package, but it only shows the 1500 filter and use. why would i buy a 2200 or???? how do they compare, how about a chart that shows something other than just size and a number...

I have used this filter in prior homes with good results. 20 X 20 X4 is the correct size for our air handler - but the Filtrete didn't fit. We ended up destroying it trying to get it into the furnace. I then noticed that the actual size is 19 7/8 X 19 7/8. The filter that had been in our air handler is 19 1/2 X 19 1/2 and was another brand. I had to go buy another with the smaller "actual" measurement to get it to work. Primary thing learned is to check the actual size vs the label size. It is included in small print on the filter frame. I thought they were all a standard size but that is not true. I replaced four filters today with Filtrete 1500 filters (20x30x1; 14x30x1; and two 14x24x1). Not one of them fit correctly, each being approximately 1/2 inch too wide and 1/2 inch too long. Normally these filters slip right in, but these had to be bent to fit in. Considering the price, I expected them to be form fit and function.
