Usually protractor are cheap plastic and the compass slides. The protractor was metal and the compass was stable and quality.

Nice Compass, Metal Protractor Not So Useful.

MacMan September 29, 2025

I purchased two of these primarily for the compass in teaching my granddaughters Geometry. The compass is well made and works well for bisecting lines and angles. The included protractor, because it is metal and thus opaque, is practically useless. Instead, we use a cheap plastic compass which is transparent.

Decent

Cort January 15, 2026

Decent for the money. Came with the compass and protractor as advertised and also some extra lead in a tiny jar. Compass was firm and not too loose.

Glenn December 28, 2025

The compass was not put together correctly, and was not accurate. when I tried to fix it, it broke further. It is unusable with any accuracy. I bought this set for the metal protractor, however, and I am quite happy with that.

Upgrade and a confusing downgrade to the compass

Aspen June 18, 2026

So…the protractor in this set is just fine. The compass, however, is frustrating. They have “fixed” the problem that other compasses haven't in regard to the little pencils constantly moving around - the lead is actually in the compass, not clipped on in a way that it slides around. However, there is no measuring device on the actual compass, so one cannot set it to create lines or geometric shapes without having to use the protractor or a ruler to measure. I really don't understand why they fixed one problem but created a separate problem by not including a way to measure on the compass itself. I'd love to talk to whoever designed it to understand the reasoning behind it. Alas, I'm still on the hunt for the perfect compass for my kiddos to use in geometry.

David July 13, 2026

At first the compass appeared to be what I needed, however, the lead is way too soft. I needed to draw precise circles but as I drew the line got wider and wider. I am returning this item because of the soft lead.

Useless junk. I get it, I go to put a pen in it, and there's no freaking pen holder. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU MAKE A COMPASS WITHOUT A PEN HOLDER?! I've never seen one without one. And the protractor is opaque, so it's useless too. I'm throwing this crap in the garbage

8.5in not 12"

james August 17, 2024

it says that it is a 12" compass, which means that it should extend to 6" between the tips, but at its furthest i could only get it to around 4.25" apart, equaling 8.5" total, which is 3.5" short of the 12" it claims. also, the compass doesnt stay in place very well, so as you use it, depending on which direction you make your circle in, it either goes larger or smaller than you entend. it's only a slight change but it is noticeable. It's not worth the money. The picture is at full extension.
