Flowtron 1 Acre Electric Mosquito & Fly Zapper with 40W Bulb

Living next to a swamp in Florida, the gnats and mosquitoes are relentless in the warmer months. The Flowtron has been a Godsend this summer. Since I didn't want it on 24 hours a day, I added a light-sensitive plug that shuts it off in the daytime. I hung it on the edge of my deck so I can sit outside at night and it keeps the outdoor cats from getting eaten alive as well. I soon got used to the constant zapping sound as a part of my normal outdoor summer noises, and it is not too loud or annoying. Judging from the pile of insects lying under the unit by morning, I know it is quite effective.

Awesome. Plugged it in and it started working. I was surprised how it also lit up the whole yard at night with a soft blue light. The bugs in Missouri eat me up . This makes it where I can sit on my porch and enjoy the night air. Not have to go back inside before dark. Love it!

I bought in hopes it would help eliminate biting nats and black flies as well as mosquitoes we are plagued with. It did not disappoint. I worked outside today for an hour, sweating and not one nat, black fly or mosquito buzzed me. The nats are horrendous where I live and this light is worth it's weight in gold. Highly recommend!

As soon as I plugged it in, it zapped it's first mosquito. Throughout the night it sounded like an electric storm zapping moths and mosquitoes. To add to the joy of buying this, we have had an explosion of tent caterpillars this year, so very happy we bought his to hopefully zap the ones we miss when they turn into a moth before it lay eggs again for next year. Hoping that is takes care of the moths that will eventually attack the garden too. This zapper also went through a rain storm here and stayed working great. The outside grids are narrow so it will not kill the larger moths like the Tarantula moth or Luna moth. It was kind of difficult to clean the electric grid.

Go with the Flowtron. Had a model for 20 yrs, never had to replace the bulb. Tossed out because a plastic grid piece broke and I didn't want a bird flying inside. Wide grid allows bugs to drop out. Light is bright enough to attract insects. Bought a Black Flag model; tested for 2 days, it was easily clogged and seemed less durable. Chemical attractant attract mosquitos? Never did know. Overall It's a good hefty size. It seems built well. It does what it says. I haven't gone out to check the mosquito population, but I hear it takes about 6 weeks to work its magic. I only have 2 notes. (1) When opening the Mosquito Attractant GO OUTSIDE, WEAR DISPOSABLE GLOVES. I did wear the gloves but did it inside. (2) There is a small gap in the brass colored ring holding it up. A thin line would go through it. OK, I just went outside 11:30pm and it was very active and a lot of bugs around. I need to move it further away from my door. I tried to get pictures but it was too dark to see the ring. I checked on the price of replacement bulbs and this one is fairly cheap at $12.

Works great! I don’t know if it actually covers an acre of land as I don’t have that large of a lot. I do however have a double lot. I have only had it a few days but so far very pleased. If anything changes I will update my review otherwise I say it is a well spent $40.00 (ish) dollars!

This is the best mosquito bug zapper EVER. It kills thousands, hundreds of mosquitos and bugs every day! I had purchased so many different kinds of mosquito trappers before from over $400 to lately over $100 Dyna trap, nothing works!! This Flowtron Zapper is the BEST. I went back to get a 2nd one within a week. One for my front yard and the other for the back Yard. Walmart has the BEST PRICE and THE BEST DELIVERY.

This is my second purchase after owning one for six years. I used it in my backyard to cut down on flying insects and mosquitoes. It took two weeks to notice a difference. I hook it into a timer that activates the bug zapper at night for 4 hours a day to help save on bulb life and electric bill since there is no on and off switch.

The cord is only about one foot long so that’s kinda problematic when it says to plug in at least 25 feet from your home. The “poison” cartridge doesn’t seem very poisonous, so to me it’s just a “bright” light. I was outside for an hour and heard 2 zaps and we had several, and I mean, several mosquitoes. I wouldn’t buy another one for the price.
