Folgers 1850 Black Gold Ground Coffee, Dark Roast, 12 oz

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I actually really like the packaging- and that it's totally recyclable! It keeps the coffee nice and fresh. I made a cup of coffee and it has such a rich taste with chocolate notes. I really liked it a lot, and I appreciate that it was strong but wasn't bitter. This will probably become my new morning staple!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A cup of black coffee and sugar in the morning gives me a pumped up feeling of energy, it is a great start to my day. Compared to the others products of Folgers this one in particular has a great richness and nice smoothness tone to the drink that is made, offering with a hint of dark cacao flavor with a subtle taste of sweetness. The dark chocolate aftertaste provides a great richness, a full bodied richness without any bitterness, it has no acidic taste aftertaste with amazing freshness to the body.

The Folgers 1850 Black Gold Dark Roast Ground Coffee came in a 12-Ounce package. The bag was easy to open and the aroma was wonderful. Immediately I noticed that the coffee grounds were rich and dark. I especially love rich and bold coffee so I was excited to try it. The next day, I made the Folgers Gold Dark Roast for my morning coffee. It is definitely rich, dark, and bold. I love the smell and flavor of this coffee. It has a strong and deep taste which I really like. I really like the chocolate after hints that come at the end. Overall, I would recommend the Folgers 1850 Black Gold Dark Roast to any coffee lover.

I found this coffee to be everything that it claims to be. It is an exceptionally good and unique dark roast. My first impression of Black Gold was that it was a very new style of coffee I had yet experienced. I normally bounce between a French Roast or a nice Hazelnutty Medium bodied drip. The initial taste is a deep smoky flavor with a smooth chocolatey undertone. It is bold but not overbearing. The smokiness brings out a ruggedness with the flavor, almost like a manly coffee. It borders an espresso like style, without being as thick as a traditional espresso. I found the packaging to have a higher end feel, more like a luxurious imported brand. This is a new look for Folgers and I like where they are going with it.

I am a a lover of coffee. I drink it black. No sugar or cream. I like the taste of it...the aroma...the caffeine (ahem)... Being a member of the Walmart Sparks Program, I had the opportunity to review "Folgers 1850 Black Gold, Dark Roast Coffee." Without hesitation, as soon as I sipped this brew, I knew I had just sipped one of the richest tasting coffees I had ever sipped. Made from 100% Arabica beans, this coffee has a bold, yet smooth taste. It has a hint of dark chocolate mixed in. If you enjoy a great tasting coffee, this is for you. It actually TASTES like coffee... Folgers is famous for making coffee which it bills as "The Richest Kind." They continue to honor that statement with the "1850" line of brews.

Brewed this is quite a rich, deep flavored coffee that tastes way better than it smells. Very nice. From the moment you open the bag, till you take the final sip in your cup, the aroma is fresh. It isn't like other production coffees that only have a high price tag, on regular beans this is a nice coffee. I use ADC, as you can see from the pictures the grind is a good size for production coffee. Each pot is good. Each cup is like the previous cup, as it should be. Whether you enjoy your coffee black (as I do), or with cream &/or sugar, warm, hot or iced; this is a very delightful coffee. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it has chocolate or cocoa notes, as described, or maybe my bag went flat, but it certainly is rich & silky smooth. Each cup tastes the same, from the top of the bag, to the bottom of it. I have had some coffee that wasn’t consistent & was a bit different or not blended as well as could be, not so with this coffee. Single brew or multiple cups doesn’t matter, each cup is delicious & a pleasure to drink or serve. I don’t change from the coffees that I drink, but I may change to this one.

I am a snob when it comes to coffee, and most store-bought coffee is horrible. I like my coffee very strong, very dark, and very hot. I do not adulterate my coffee with cream and sugar, and I do not consider the doctored dessert coffees to be real coffee. Folgers is one of the worst over-the-counter coffees, even when brewed at double-strength. So I was very pleasantly surprised at the full body, full flavor and excellent aroma of the 1850 coffee. Normally, pre-ground coffee has a stale odor and taste to it, but this coffee smelled very fresh. I brewed it to a full tablespoon of coffee per 2 measure of water, and the result was excellent. This dark roast was not over-roasted, so it did not have the burnt taste of many dark roast coffees. It brewed strong but not overwhelming in standard coffee pot. I am pleased to have found another coffee that I can add to my repetoire.

Folgers 1850 Black Gold Dark Roast Ground coffee is hands down, some of the richest, full bodied, deepest coffee I've had in a while. It's smooth and has a darker stronger roasted flavor that I really enjoyed.

This is some good strong dark roast coffee!!! WOW... from Folger's!!! I was buying other expensive brands... why... why... just why... I have switched! THIS is A-1 if you like dark roast and it's way less than other brands. Bold, rich, smooth, NOT bitter. Very versatile and goes with just about all creamers. IMPRESSED. Will definitely buy again. A new fan!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We only drink Folgers at our house, so we were excited to try their 1850 Black Gold. It's a delicious, smooth flavor; no bitterness whatsoever. We made it too weak our first try. The second time we brewed it we added a bit more and it was more to our liking. We bred Folgers Classic Roast normally and it's a medium strength coffee, so a little extra of the 1850 was perfect for us. Folgers' 1850 has now become our afternoon french press delight!
