I love these!! They usually come very large in size and typically green, so if you want them black/sweet, you'll have to wait a few days or so. I love them cooked a variety of ways - savory and also sweet.. They never disappoint! The quality is great, size as well and how long they last. Highly recommend, if you haven't tried them, do it! Find a video on how to cook them. :) The best thing about them is they last awhile, even if you're too busy to cook them right away, unlike other produce, they are still good to go.
The only reason I gave you a score of 4 is because if I have to place an order for delivery, I really don't know what I would get...but when I go to the store, it is different because I am selecting what I like. I always want green plantains, but so many times, I get ripe plantains. When I get green plantains, it is like a celebration!! 🍾 I wish I could put a note to specific: "only green plantains, please," but I have to say that I'm happy with Walmart and everything.
Plantains, when ready to cook, are the color of a spoiled banana but the inside fruit is still hard and not discolored or bruised. at this stage. Often, when I order plantains, they are green. It can take a couple weeks in my kitchen to get to brown outside. I wonder if you are throwing away the ripe ones??
When I put in my order for delivery I didn’t except the person shopping to grab a fully ripe plantain. I ordered them with the intention of frying them. I have this issue with a few of the vegetables I purchase like when I buy avocados I except them to be ripe enough to be able to cut them and eat them but they are always hard as a rock. If there were a way to add instructions for the person shopping for pick up and delivery that would be great.
Overpriced and whoever is selecting my produce, does not know how to select bananas in this case they’re called plantains and you have to select them when they’re green so it gives more time to ripen and use different cultures, different ethnicity and different ways of doing things but when picking this food, it needs to be picked when it’s mostly green and for some reason, they give it to me when it’s yellow
The planters I received was small. They also had a black skin on it, which meaning that the plantains are spoiled inside of the planting when you cut them so three 3 of these plantains have excess black markings on them, which mean they are not good and the rest are small and it’s only four that’s decent size so that means poor quality of plantains.
Walmart needs to improve their quality control when it comes to online orders. Every time I place an order, the person picking the items seems to select the rotten or expired ones. I've never spoken up, but it's disappointing when I'm missing items from my order, only to find them readily available in the store. This has happened multiple times, and it's not just limited to plantains.
AWFUL! Guess it's MY fault for hoping the shopper (had my order delivered) would actually select GOOD produce, not the half-rotted crap that falls on the floor, and kicked. They aren't even green, more brown than yellow and DEFINITELY will not work for my recipe which uses **green** plantains. Do yourself a favor and don't order fresh produce…go to the store and get it yourself.
I don't understand why they sent the wrong product. There is a possibility Walmart adds options if we want the yellow plantains vs green plantain? I don't know if the person who is in charge of the website understand the difference? I pick green one and always received yellow one.
Eat bananas were mixed. Only two of the bananas were good like the picture. I was going to try to save two others as in the picture but they were black inside. The other two were thrown away. Sorry I didn’t get their picture. You decide I paid this money for only two good bananas for a shame. Thank you.
