Frost King® CF55 Foil Backed "No Itch" Natural Cotton Insulation Duct Wrap, 12" x 15'

I like the fact that it is made out of cotton instead of fiberglass which means it is easier to handle. But the r value is 4 and fiberglass is 6.

insulation capability is not that much. I can feel warmth on insulation wrapped on hvac duct. but it's easy to work with

Ez to work with the no itch cotton insulation, a must for the round ducts. I used fiberglass on the first round duct, such a mess, I removed it, the CF55 is so much better on round ducts. The CF55 rolls are compressed so I used the shop vac. to fluff them up with the 14" wide floor attachment. Vacuumed 3 times for fullest thickness and also cleanest insulation in town. Still not a full 1", but better than compressed. Using the CF55 on the round ducts saved me the fiberglass itch while wrapping. I used the fiberglass 2" SP55 on the square ducts without any itching. Finished off ducts with a wrap of Reflectix, for a professional finish. Started out by caulking the ducts joints first and repairing a few bad joints, I don't use tape on the joints that will peel off in a few years. Now I have air flowing through the registers. Hot, Hot Air! Noticed that the furnace runs half as long as before. This is going to be great when the AC is on. The Reflectix is an excellent heat reflecting wrap, the R value varies on the applications. Towards the end of the project, had about 10' of square duct and 2 rounds left to do. After the furnace ran a few minutes I put my hand on the sheetmetal square duct and it was very warm, then put my hand on the 2" fiberglass and it was slightly warm. When I put my hand on the Reflectix there is no heat loss on the 40' of square duct or any of the rounds ducts, they were at room temp. I didn't know that my ducts were as bad as they were, leaking bad fits and the heat loss. I just knew, I didn't have much air flow at the registers. This was a larger project then I first thought of, but the end results are amazing.

Easy to install and appreciate being able to use without mask or protection. Wish roll was bigger for more coverage. Will take more rolls of insulation than expected.

The good thing is no fiberglass, but some made poorly. I ordered 10 rolls, and about half of them the foil didn't cover 1-2 inches of the insulation material, also it's not one inch thick, maybe 1/2"
