Aways liked this show. I'm only on Season 3 right now. Only a half a dozen episodes with commentary and only the one with Barbara Feldon and Buck Henry is worth listening to, so far, but there are some other extras included. One that would very easily be missed is the Don Rickles Bloopers. The only way to find/see it is if you go to the episodes list and move down to that selection before the episode starts - only Commentaries are shown/listed on the Main Menu. Instead of just "Playing All", I will be going one episode at a time from now on so I don't miss any (more). You also get an airdate and introduction by 99 if you go one episode at a time.
When I have been purchasing DVDs, I usually get defects and DVDs. I am glad to see that when I purchased this DVD set there was no defects at all! I have watched the show for when I was growing up and I have enjoyed it and always wanted to know what it would be like to be an actual spy. I sure hope you enjoy it as well. I hope that DVDs and Blu-ray make a comeback as it is 100% better than streaming, especially when you can own it on physical media and don't have to worry about losing it by purchasing it through other streaming services or not be able to watch it on page streaming services.
I love the old shows and Get Smart is great fun. There's a ton of bonus on it with a few audio commentaries as well. It arrived quickly as well, which was appreciated. I was worried a bit of $40 for a series, but with over 3,000 minutes of content, it's actually worth it!
So this show came out in the mid 60s and only one for five seasons, but it was a comical and satirical take on the spy genre and my dad who is currently 76 and was born in 49, I'm fairly certain even though I've never really talked to him about it because it's just never been a thought that occurred to me to ask him, my dad is the kind that likes the corny humor that comes from that show so I have no doubt that he would have watched it as a kid growing up, and I've always known about it, and I always liked the intro where he pulls up in his little Convertible and walks into an office building and walks downstairs through all of those doors and then goes into the phone booth and goes down to where Control is, I just always liked that intro, but I'd seen different parts and scenes on YouTube and other forms of media before and my Capital One quicksilver card. I think offers more accessible places that I've heard of that I shop at so when I was doing my 3% back from eBay and then 4% back from Walmart, I decided on an impulse to throw this out in the cart, but at least I have it as part of my collection because I have a handful of other TV shows, most of which I've seen before in the past and didn't finish but more than half of them I have watched all the way through and finished so this is just an addition to that. But the whole box sale looks nice, I haven't looked at any of the other discs, but the first one obviously seemed in good condition because I was able to play my PS4 and have watched at least the first episode so far.
came a day early in excellent condition. I thought I was a victim of a porch pirate, my package was big enough to put in our mailbox. one big salute to our driver.
If you have an I.Q. higger than your average american(moron) and want to just turn it off for a while and enjoy brilliant comedy then this is just what you need. It's from the good old days of television when actors actually had talent and would work more than two weeks a year.
Received on time and is as expected!
I looked for the series and Walmart had it at a good price
Great classic show and one of the funniest of all time. It's absolutely brilliant.
This is just a review of the box set's image quality and packaging. I won't comment on the show since if you're looking to buy this you already are a fan of it. Overall, the packaging is nicely done but getting the discs out of the individual boxes is a pain. The case and flip 'pages' inside that hold 4 discs (2 on each side) are flimsy so pressing the center tab isn't easy to remove the disc. I had to bend the disc to remove it but this is all too typical of the case style used. Image quality is pretty decent, for a DVD. Luckily I have a barely 1 yr. old upper-end TV that does a great job of upscaling the image to not-quite bluray quality but still rather nice for what the source material is. Colors in the images sure do pop, the overall picture quality sure beats how it looked when it was first broadcast and watching on a CRT television. There's also a nice touch before each show starts with Barbara Feldon doing a short recap of the episode along with some nifty trivia to boot. Plus there two commentary tracks that you can listen to over the pilot episode from Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. If you're a fan of the show, grab this box set. It's well done for the price asked, and if you have a rather recent TV with good upsampling processing it'll look pretty darned good too.
