GITS is one of the best anime I ever watched. Even though this anime is 20 years old, the story holds up and even reflects current events. Quality is 10/10.

I just purchased both this and 2nd gig after seeing them at walmart, and got nervous when i saw a previous reviewer comment his copy was not dubbed. It seems they must have fixed that issue because my copy does contain both dubbed english dialogue and subtitles.

These do not appear to be fake. Well, they are not single-sided Blu-Rays at least. As I mentioned in my review of 2nd Gig, the video has not been enhanced for the Blu-Ray release. This series was originally made for CRT TV, so you may want to find one and a PS3 to watch it with (preferably a hacked one you can hook a 16 TB MyBook with 4K sectors to, so you can watch these ripped as ISO files). On modern screens, the video is jittery in many places, and can be very distracting. This is the start of the series. Initially they were not planning to have a continuous story, so you could watch them in any order, miss an episode and not be completely lost, etc. This makes sense in many ways, but it makes it less compelling at the same time. 2nd Gig is where the writing really clicked and took things to another level, but this is still pretty good. At $13 you are getting a steal. That's less than you would have paid for a single volume back when this was first released. If you haven't seen it, definitely pick it up. You will get your money's worth.

I thought I bought a brand new copy but when I got it the case was damaged but the discs was fine.

When I first saw this series on Walmart.com my heart skipped a beat because I've been looking for this series on Blu-Ray quite sometime now so I made the decision to buy this series and 2nd GIG... boy was I disappointed. If there had been any label or indication that these were only subbed, I never would've purchased them in the first place. It's not that I don't appreciate anime for what it is but I feel like if it's going to be marketed in the US, it should at least be in English. If you aren't ready to read through hours of subtitles, DO NOT BUY! I just wasted $60 on both seasons. I guess I'll just have to buy them on iTunes where there is a clear distinction between Subtitled and Dubbed.

I ordered this item and was notified of a delay in delivery twice. Then, when the item finally arrived, it was an empty BluRay case, no discs. Now I have to spend more time returning it than it was worth in the first place. Total scam.
