This is just the mounting kit and post. It also comes with a 2 X 4 with a point so you have extra support for your post. Seems like good quality also. We took the picture before putting it up because we live on a very busy road and it would be hard to get one.
I seriously love it, it's durable, practical and necessary! Instantly I knew that I was going to love it, it replaces my old one that has taken a beating with the Texas heat! I totally recommend this product as a great replacement for your worn out, weather beaten mailboxes!
Includes wooden anchor “stake” which is easy to install, helps if the ground is a little soft from recent rain. Then the post slips over that. Putting mailbox on is easy & only takes a few minutes after post is in place. Definitely recommend. I actually saw a really cute idea for Christmas where someone bought this kind of post & mailbox & did a “Letters for Santa” type thing, decorated it really cute. I'm almost tempted to get another one for that.
This mailbox is an excellent size for everyday mail delivery. The box was easy to mount onto the post and I can trust that this product will keep my mail away from predators. The medal is tough and the color black won't make it stand out on the street.
This post and mounting kit was a simple improvement but made a big different. It looks so much better than my old wooden post that I previously had. Combined with the mailbox, it maxes a beautiful new set and improves curb appeal a lot. I'd definitely recommend it.
At first glance the box itself seems to be made out of some flimsy plastic but it feels pretty durable and thick. It is larger than our previous mailbox, allowing for more mail or packages to be place inside without cramming them in. It is both wider and longer length ways. Installation is better with a hand sledge, a drill and drill bit if you don't have them. The instructions say to leave the stake at least 13 inches above ground which is roughly half the length. So you can drive the stake pretty deep. The post then slides over the stake and rests on the ground according to the instructions. I decided to sink mine into the ground about an inch for added stability. Afterwards grab your drill because you are going to need it. After securing the post to the stake it's just a matter of more drilling to secure the mount to the post and then that's about it. Install the box and it's all pretty secure from there. Overall not bad and all and has grown on me. Apart from the install which can be annoying, but that's to be expected with a new mailbox.
I installed this post kit and it's matching mailbox in about 15 minutes. The ground was soft from recent rains so pounding the stake in was not difficult. The post sleeve goes over the furnished stake and is screwed to it. The sleeve is 3-3/16" square inside measurement. The stake measures 1-1/2" by 2-5/8" and about 30 inches long. All hardware needed is furnished, even screw covers. Installing the box takes about 5 minutes after post is secured.
I chose this Heavy-duty plastic mailbox and post to replace my original metal mailbox. I'm happy with the quality. This mailbox has provided an attractive upgrade to my sidewalk. Installation was fairly simple, but there was one thing that I wasn't prepared for. I wasn't aware that I'd need cement.
This is a cheap post. I chuckled when I opened the box. It is a cover that goes over a piece of wood about 2 feet long that you pound into the ground. It would not be very strong to hold the mailbox This would need something else to make it stronger, something like a steel post. If you replaced the wood with a steel post or similar then it would be fine. The plastic would probably last a long time and not fade with the weather. I would recommend this product with some added strength.
This is hard plastic. The original we had for 25 years, before being mowed down by a semi, was a thicker softer plastic. This stuff chipped when I was drilling the hole for the top bolt. I was surprised it did not crack when I screwed it in the post-Mount. The recommended mount was too large for this to slide over. I had to shave it down with a table saw.
