Gibson Elite Matisse 16-Piece Dinnerware Set - Green

These dishes are very well made and I love that there two sizes of plates, and breakfast and pasta bowls. They wash well and can be used in microwave and dishwasher. And amazingly, they arrived without a chip or crack! Love the color, pattern and material.

The durability I love which microwaves well and the color blue goes with my coastal theme throughout the house.

This is a high quality 16 piece set of dishes in a beige or taupe color with lovely markings made by the firing of reactive glazes. I've never had a dinnerware set before that had two types of bowls included so that one kind could be used for soup or stew, and the other was taller and could be a cereal, salad or ice cream bowl. It is a place setting for four, and in addition to the two types of bowls, there are dinner plates and salad/dessert plates. The cereal bowls can hold 25 oz. while the dinner bowls can hold 31 oz. of food. I had never heard the term reactive glaze before, so I did a little research and found that they are glazes that contain additional elements that provide changes in color and texture and produce products that are more varied and organic in nature. Things like unevenness, cracking and blemishes may be part of the organic appeal. I'm so happy that I have this new addition to my dishware collection because it is so beautiful and different from my current black stoneware. Now I can choose between them to have two completely different looks for my dinner table.

Design is great however few plates have green spots in the center which gives mold like look.

Nicely glazed, color leaned towards brown not taupe. The bowls were deep, not overly big. The set design apart from the color was inviting. Each item had a brown ring on the design, which made them appear darker. One plate chipped, otherwise packaged well. However I ordered 2 sets and only received 1. 3rd party seller, worked with Walmart for a refund.

The Gibson Elite Matisse dinnerware was packaged very well for shipping. Every plate and bowl arrived undamaged. There were several boxes inside the large shipping box with added cardboard cutouts so there would be no movement inside the box. The small bowls, small dishes, and large bowls were in their own separate boxes. The large plates were divided into two boxes. The Gibson dinnerware could easily be sent as a gift without any worry that it would not arrive intact. The Gibson Elite Matisse large plates have white rings on the surface where the taupe colored glazing did not take place. The Gibson Elite Matisse small bowls and large bowls have a white rings on the interior bottom where the taupe colored glazing did not take place. The color taupe in person is a khaki color, but it is not light enough to be called a cream color. The small plate has white hatched design on the surface, which added a decorative flare matching the sides of the bowls. The surface of the large plate and interior bowls only have the lighter khaki color without the white hatch marks. Stacking the plates for a four course meal makes an appealing decorative presentation. The Gibson Elite Matisse small bowl is taller so my spoon remained upright in the bowl and did not fall into my clam chowder. The much wider shallow bowl is perfect for holding stews, smaller portions of soups, anything with a gravy or a sauce, or syrup. It could easily be used for breakfast and dessert! It almost acts as a bowl-plate hybrid so you can eat freely without having food pushed off and fall off the plate, which is ideal for kid's food not spilling over. I had my white anchovies in the wide bowl, so I did not have to worry about any fish oils being transferred on the table and place mat if it fell off or had to clean any up! The Gibson Elite Matisse large plate is large enough to use as a serving plate, as I placed venison tomahawk steaks on it. Both the large and small plates are concave and not totally flat, thus any liquids will tend to pool towards the middle of the plate. I prefer a flat plate, since not all food plating is commingled or for drizzle presentations. The Gibson small bowl weighs 14.8 ounces and measures 2.88 inches deep inside, 3.75 inches tall, outside top diameter 5.18 inches, outside bottom diameter 2.38 inches, inside top diameter 4.88 inches, inside bottom diameter 2.75 inches. The Gibson large bowl weighs 1 pound and 13.9 ounces and measures 1.94 inches deep inside, 1.63 inches tall, outside top diameter 8.38 inches, outside bottom diameter 5.0 inches, inside top diameter 7.75 inches, inside bottom diameter 6.0 inches. The Gibson small plate weighs 1 pound and 0.9 ounces and measures 0.31 inches deep in the middle, 0.88 inches tall, top diameter 8.56 inches, bottom diameter 5.62 inches. The Gibson large plate weighs 1 pound and 4.5 ounces and measures 0.69 inches deep in the middle, 1.13 inches tall, top diameter 10.63 inches, bottom diameter 5.0 inches. The Gibson Elite Matisse dinnerware is both dishwasher and microwave safe and being a neutral color matches any decor.
