I got these for the garage and I'm very happy I did. It was easy to install (it was a two person job) and looks nice. Using it to hang 6 folding chairs, all the gardening tools and a bunch of other random stuff. I'll buy more for the laundry room.
I have a complete garage full of the Gladiator Gear Tracks that hold all my table and chairs in one area. In another area, I have mounted all my tools. It keeps everything off the ground and well organized. The Gear Track is strong and holds the various hooks tightly.
Highly versatile and a good value. Appreciate the flexibility in placement and ability to handle load
Pros: easy to install, looks great, sturdy when installed with studs on both ends, versatile Cons: getting both ends on a stud was a pain, had to go buy screws, this only comes with 2 pieces of track.
If your purchasing one of the garage wall cabinets, I highly suggest you purchase the channels. Not only does it help in hanging the cabinets, but more importantly provides an even distribution of weight especially since the cabinets aren't wide enough to encompass two studs.
Make sure you're familiar with linear footage when you are purchasing these. You need that dimension times 3 for you need 3 rows of them to hang the cabinets. The 4' length is a challenge as they end up being just short of the next stud. They require you to begin and end installation of these on wall studs. You want to purchase 6 extra tracks and custom fit these, so they install that way, be my guest. If your walls are not perfectly flat, installing them in this manor may make the cabinets very difficult to hang. At the end of the day these tracks have plenty of screws in them. Oh, and don't forget that 18" spacing and that they are straight as an arrow.
I love these shelves. They hold all my dies for my Accuquilt cutter and look amazing in my refurbished sewing room! Wish I could show you a picture.
I am proud to say that my ENTIRE garage is filled the gladiator wall system! I absolutely love how organized and easy it has made my life. I now use my garage as a bonus room since it is as beautiful as the inside of my house thanks to the wonderfully designed system! Well done Gladiator!
I recently installed a few of these on a sheet rock wall. While the install went OK, the total length of the track is 48 inches. It is suggested that when installing, a screw should be placed in every stud along the length that requires you to place the screws at the ends of the track very close to the edge so you don't miss a stud. I imagine cracking of the plastic can happen if you are too close to the edge. A simple solution would be if the Gear Track Channel was 49 or 50” long instead of 48” or 4 feet exactly. That would give you more wiggle room when installing and be better if you place two 28” wall cabinets side by side.
It has been nearly a month since I ordered. I have received no updates. The website tells me the order is "unfullfilled". That would also describe my experience with Gladiator
