LED Ambient Lighting

Neil B. May 5, 2026

I'm very happy with Govee TV Backlight 3 Lite. I have an older 55” TV and it syncs great! I followed the instructions on the interweb and it worked out really well. Set-up didn't take very long, just some attention to detail and abracadbra! The lights are deep, bright, and vibrant. Great light-show!

At first I thought it was to pricey for what it was but after having it for 2 weeks it really adds a different experience when watching movies and tv shows definitely worth it especially if you can get it on sale like I did

Awesome addition to Movies

joshua December 27, 2025

Real easy to set this up and it adds a cool backlighting effect to movies. I've been wanting something similar for years and this was a good value and works great. Probably took less than 10 minutes to install and run through the configuration process

TV Excellence

BillF November 4, 2025

The Govee TV lighting scheme is awesome. The lighting blends with any tv picture making it soft lighting adding a wonderful aura framing our tv. For every day tv viewing, we no longer have a secondary standing light on adjacent to the tv, only a small 25 watt lamp behind us. For movies we do not use the 25 watt lamp which immerses us into our program. Yay Team Govee.

Room for Improvement - App Permissions

Ro-z May 19, 2026

The reason I am not rating this higher is because the Govee app prevents me from using the TV Backlight to its fullest capacity. This is my first Govee product, however I have also been using a Philips Hue light system for years so I'm very familiar with how home lighting control systems work. The difference in apps is that Hue has never asked me for my precise location, nor my wifi password. There is no need for me to be giving away my personal information like that. If Govee found a different way to operate its app I'd be able to give a more thorough review. I did give it location permission when I was setting it up at first, and was able to play with designing static colors, patterns, and effects, which was fun and user-friendly. After that I disabled the permissions and disconnected the camera so that maybe someday if things change, I can put it to use with the rest of the package. In the meantime, I just turn the LEDs on & off from the back of the tv and have a lovely rainbow chase run continuously. My only other critique is that the camera mount doesn't really fit the contour of my tv and there's no way to really adjust it. It's just balancing in place with that double-stick tape on the top. It would be cool if there was more of a clamp-type mechanism.

They are nice

Pretty simple to put on the tv the only concern is I feel like the blue color is off, I have tried changing a few different settings but it's still the same

Too Distracting with Chaotic Color Matching

Major Buster April 27, 2026

Installing this on a wall-mounted TV proved to be quite difficult, so keep that in mind. Even after spending time calibrating, the backlight still fails to consistently match the on-screen content. After just a few weeks of use, the lights started fading to black, occasionally flickering on and then fading out again. I gave it two stars because, while the static lighting might work for some, I specifically wanted dynamic, responsive effects—and this just didn't deliver.

I was hoping for a lot more

Jesse P March 3, 2026

I honestly expected a lot better from my favorite LED electronics brand. I was disappointed in both the installation instructions and the actual process, especially having to put the orange blocks on my TV screen. The camera calibration never seemed to be quite right. Once installed, I was disappointed at the brightness/dynamics and color-matching

Decent Immersion Add-on/Struggles w Color Accuracy

Dustin December 9, 2025

Installation: On the TV, the installation process was pretty straightforward. For the lights, it consist of 1 long strip that has 4 LED portions, 2 for the horizontal portions and another 2 for a vertical portions of the TV. Adhesive works well and can reattach if you mess up. However, with the LEDs being one long strip, it would be nice if Govee added some cable organizers to have the extra cable slack be pressed against the TV so it doesn't cast a shadow when the LEDs are on. The camera is a gravity-based attachment system so it can only be attached on the top of the TV. App Calibration: This is probably the most frustration part of the installation. With this type of tech, the camera takes a top-down photo of your TV and you select where the 4 corners of your TV and the mid of the left/right/bottom of your TV all from the top-down POV (7 points total). After that, it does its magic and show you an adjusted "normal" frontal view of your TV but doesn't allow for any adjustment other than going back to the top-down view and making adjustments there. Additional, you'd expect that the top-down view of your TV as well as the locations of these 7 points don't move around as you make these adjustment but they occasionally do, requiring you to readjust all the points again. I just wish that Govee allowed up to just see the "normal" frontal view and allow us to make adjustment there. These are all touch/finger adjustment so micro-adjustment were really difficult. Govee did allow for a full-screen mode but even then, I wish there was a more zoomed-in version or it or if there were arrow-key (D-Pad) adjustments instead. Color accuracy: Some colors are accurate, some are definitely not. The colors that I've seen it struggle are browns/oranges being lit red, greys being lit green, gloomy grey clouds being lit cyan, blue being lit purple. If you're nit-picky with color, this product is not for you. Even with Govee's built-in adjustments in the app, which only include saturation and color temperature), it unfortunately does not fix the problem. I've did these adjustment on a white screen as well as running it through multiple movie scenes, but fixing one color always resulted in messing up another color. Screen Coverage: The camera, although it can see the entire TV screen, it doesn't process the entire screen, which I'm not too sure why the top edges of the TV aren't processed by the camera and reflected by the lights. Additionally, for small color changes in a scene (e.g., red flower in grass), the camera will see the red but if it's too small of an object on the screen, it may not reflect in the lights Overall: It's not a bad product and perhaps I had too high of hopes based off of what I've seen in all of Govee's Youtube marketing videos. With all the color accuracy issues I ran into, I consider this to be a half-baked product and shouldn't cost as much as it does ($58)

horrible quality

Curtis May 29, 2026

the color accuracy is horrendous I'm sure it's good if you're color blind after only being on the TV for a couple hours the sticky paste on it started let go and it's been falling off the TV now and halfway through it starting to fall off it just shut off and it's not turning back on
