I have a couple of three-way lamps that I don't need to be really bright because they're not where I will be sitting and reading. These will definitely fit the bill without wasting energy. .

Not much change in brightness in the 3 modes...
There doesn't seem to be a huge difference in the 3 different lighting brightness (could be that it is in a matte/frosted lamp) but having the ability to change is nice. I usually only use one brightness and on the highest setting it is as bright as a regular daylight white led bulb and is better than the incandescent bulb as it shouldn't dim over time and should last longer.
