The gallon size is great to have handy. I use them to freeze pork chops and partially used packages of food. Bread items don't keep for very long even in the fridge. I don't like going to the grocery store all of the time. I use them to freeze bread, rolls, hot dog and hamburger buns. I'll freeze rolls and buns for about two weeks, they thaw out and are still fresh. Also, they're good for storing non-food items. The double zipper is easy to close and stays closed. The closed bags fit really well into a crowded freezer. I tried the slider type. They don't seem to close as well. The slider is bulky and gets in the way when I put the bag in the freezer.
I am amazed at the "Great Value" of their zipper freezer bags. They are leak resistant, their size is huge, so easy to stack side-by-side in a drawer: two gallon, gallon, half-gallon, quart. Less waste by using the size that fits exactly. Truly a great value!
We have used the more expensive bags, but then we tried the Great Value Freezer bags, and have never went back to other brands. We always buy meats in bulk, and have even used a vacuum sealer, but we've had better luck just using the GV freezer bags. Our foods stay good, without freezer burn, for a much longer time. I appreciate the fact that they also have the label area to write on, so we know what we're freezing, and when. Why spend more money on higher-priced brands, when you get better quality and results from Great Value? Give them a try. You won't be disappointed.
So far, none of them have been defective. And I use these to store fruits in the freezer for fresh produce for smoothies. I will try to use one several times before I replace it and it's working out very well. Cheaper than food containers and gives me more room in the freezer.
Definitely a great value for the money I paid and will surely purchase again when needed. Bag was thick and easy for me to use with the enclosure at the top. Great for me making ice since we recently experienced to extremely devastating whether events here in Hawaii. We lost power and the water was at a premium for a little while. Thanks for this great value.
Excellent price and performance. I use them to store used non-flushable feminine hygiene products between trash emptyings, to prevent smells from drawing bugs. That's unorthodox useage, but it works well for my needs; the bags can be opened and resealed multiple times without any breakdown in sealing performance. I do occasionally use (new, unused!) bags for food storage as well, with the same good performance.
Pros * Gallon size handles larger portions, leftovers, and batch-prepped ingredients. * Double zipper makes it easier to check that the bag is fully closed. Con * They're oversized for snacks or small single portions. Fun Fact * Freezer bags are generally thicker than standard storage bags to better handle cold storage.
There seems to always be holes in these. All my pre marinated meats get water logged when I defrost the bag in water. I literally have to pull the meats out 2 days to defrost in the fridge and I still have to put it in a bowl so it won't leak into my shelves.
These are by far the worst freezer bags I have ever bought I will never ever buy the double zipped freezer bags ever again. Can you take this it is a struggle to get the bags to zip shut and some I give up on and just roll up and stick in the freezer
These used to be REALLY good bags, but walmart has changed the seal and completely destroyed the bag. Now they are very difficult to seal. If you pour something like flour or sugar from it or get any on the seal, it WILL NOT seal at all. At all. It becomes completely useless. These are a total waste of money now. In my pictures, the seal on the right is the former seal that works really well and on the left is the new seal with two tiny strips for a seal which do not work at all. Save your money.
