We normally buy name-brand chili beans, but this time I picked these up instead because I couldn't justify paying so much more. There was some skepticism at first. Once they were used in the chili, that changed quickly. Even the most loyal name-brand buyer had to admit these taste just as good, same flavor, same texture, just without the higher price. Affordable, flavorful, and a smart substitute for more expensive brands. These are a great value and will definitely be bought again.
I always add a can of these tasty beans along with GV chili beans just to give some added texture and flavor, they come in a easy to open pop top can, very reasonably priced, great product for the cost, these are also yummy in a pot of goulash or Cincinnati style spaghetti and help stretch the meal further when feeding a family on a tight budget
My go to canned chili bean!! When you open a can there isn't a lot of "broth" which I love. Not having the usual amount of liquid that most canned beans do, the meals I use these for are not diluted unless I need the to be. And I don't have to waste excess liquid from the beans. I try to utilize everything that I cook with. Especially these days. Great tasting beans and they go so well with anything bean related, not just chili. Soups, burritos, by themselves, tacos, everything beans! Great price and long shelf life makes for a terrific pantry item!
I don't have patience for soaking and cooking a big pot of dry beans. Using these inexpensive mixed chili beans works great for a quick, medium sized pot of chili. I cook brown lentils, half a chopped onion, ground beef or turkey, low salt broth, canned beans, canned tomatoes, extra chili spices, and it's done in under an hour.
All these years I've been cooking home-made chili, and I didn't know about this handy-dandy can of Mixed Chili Beans! Until a few weeks ago, when I spotted it on the Walmart shelf. Instead of purchasing 3 different cans of beans, I purchased two cans of this can of a perfect blend of beans to add to my Chili. Of course, I browned ground beef, then added two cans of Great Value Mixed Chili Beans. Then I added one can of tomato sauce, one can of crushed tomatoes, a squeeze of tomato paste, and about 2 cups of beef broth. I also added a packet of McCormick Chili (mild) mix, one bay leaf, diced green pepper and diced onion. You do you, but this is how I make my version of delicious, yummy and comforting home-made Chili.
I am so happy with Great Value Mixed Chili Beans, they are inexpensive and taste great. When your Doctor tells you to eat more beans, you find ways. Whether it is making a pot of beans, or popping open a can... this canned product is perfect for when you are in a hurry and need a tasty meal fast.
I like the variety of beans. There's research that if you eat servings of 30 different veggies per week you have a more diverse mix of gut microbes, which has been proven to help improve health outcomes. the 30 different veggies can seem daunting, and the this mix of beans is an easy way to get to that magic number. Eating wise they are fine, I put them in a basic chili. https://microsetta.ucsd.edu/30-plants-per-week/ https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/msystems.00031-18
the first time that I purchased this product I was looking for another brand and product all together. I couldn't find it. and I'm thankful I didn't. when I opened up this product and used it I was very surprised. it is very delicious and I was happy that it's one of those products that has an easy opening can with a pull tab. because it doesn't have all kinds of added sugar it's great for people on diets. it's a nice size that it works for one person or portioned out for two.
This is a go to item for me when the Chili Craving calls. The mixed beans provide texture, color and a vibrant taste to my chili. They come in a wonderful mild chili sauce that adds flavor to any recipe. These are great mixed with some browned spicy ground beef ladled over rice with shredded cheese and fresh sliced green onion in top. Quick and Easy!
Always buy these 15oz Great Value mixed chili beans good way to get some protein use them in salads, soups, on burritos! taste good priced even better Thanks Walmart for lower prices on your Great Value Brand they are just as good as the name brand!!!
