Replaced expired brand name GE XWFE with this filter on GE Cafe style refrigerator. This Great Value filter has no RFID chip so wouldn't dispense water. Watched a "how to hack GE XWFE filter" video specific to my refrigerator model on YouTube. Easy peasy and now works perfectly! Water is clear and tastes the same. Very happy with this filter and took less than 15 minutes to save $30.00.
So far so good, it fits perfectly but not sure how long it would last. There's an item on eBay that exactly looks like the original and selling for half price, buyers beware. It was counterfeit and doesn't fit. And it you return the item they wanted you to ship it to China and cost 3 times the cost of the filter.
Have been putting off replacing our GE fridge filter because of cost. When I came across this great value filter for our fridge I had to give it a try. So glad I did. It's budget friendly and works just as good as the GE brand XWFE fridge water filter. Give it a try!
Way cheaper than a XWFE filter. Not as cheap as the XWF but at least you don't have to peel off chips and whatnot to make it work. You pay for convenience. Getting it in was a little confusing and took a couple tries to get it right, but still worth the money
Perfect Taste, Perfect Fit, Perfect Value. I needed a new filter and I ordered one from that giant online retailer that starts with an A. It took 6 days (Even though I have Prime) and they sent me the WRONG filter. I ordered the filter from Walmart and it was delivered the next day and was the Right Filter. This appears to perform as well as filters twice the price and more. Very happy and will continue to purchase these. I highly recommend these and I thank you for reading my review.
I am very picky about the taste of my water and wasn't sure about trying this Great Value filter but I'm so glad I did. The price is much cheaper than the actual brand filter, it fit perfectly into my fridge, and my water tastes just the same if not better.
Similar to OMP. Taste is different however, it does have a purified taste. The OMP filter has a better taste. For the price this can't be beat. I use it everyday to put water in metal water bottles and it tastes 97% better than tap water. Where did that number come from? I also used a brita and pur filtered pitchers. Brita did a very good job @ 98% and pur @ 96%. This filter is in between. Brita has softeners and pur filters have little. This filter has very low filters but you can taste there are some. Overall better than paying $50 for OMP filters.
Be advised: there was no arrow on the filter to line up with the arrow on filter holder in the refrig. I had a GE filter which I had just taken out so I could figure out where the arrow should be. So I was able to install the great value filter. It fits fine but I guess I have to buy a GE filter next with an arrow.
First, there is no arrow on the filter to line up with the fridge receptacle. This makes it a little more difficult to install than OEM. Second, the flavor seems a little bit off. I think it has a slight buttery flavor. Very minimal difference from OEM but it seems like there is a difference.
Not compatible with XWFE devices. It has a chip in the label, but my fridge still says ERROR and will not dispense water. Had to strip the chip out of the original filter in the fridge and tape it on the back wall to get this filter to work. I will try again in six months to see if the first filter I got has a bad chip, but I am not impressed so far.
