I always order multiple bags of this jerky, as I live in a small town in Montana, and the stores here sell similar sized jerky, for DOUBLE TO TRIPLE the cost. Shipping was free, as I ordered over $35 worth, and the five bags I ordered lasts a long time.
This beef jerky used to be my favorite but I am almost positive they changed the recipe as it went from normal chewy beef jerky to really really soft and mushy. I have never had beef jerky that is so wet and squishy. Please let me know if you bring back the old recipe.
I dunno if i just got a bad bag or of they are all like that, but my jerky was slightly slimy and sticky. They didnt have much in flavor, but was oddly tuff for being slimy as they were. Probably will not try it again just to see if it was a one off or all same.
I'll be returning one bag today. I opened it and it had mold inside on the meat. This is the first time this has happened.
Soft, mushy, and almost wet. The taste is off as well, not like normal teriyaki. I tried one piece and the rest is being used as a snack for the barn cats. Wish there was a way to exclude this from my searches so I don't accidentally buy it again. Its terrible.
I purchased this jerky because it is listed as wheat-free. I came home and my son and I ate some and reacted very poorly as we are celiacs. Come to find out it does indeed have wheat in it. The label listed online does not match the label on the item.
I was very excited to find a jerky that I believed to be Gluten Free. The Walmart listing only lists soy as an allergen. however, upon receiving the item it says, contains wheat and soy. Me trusting what I purchased online to be true-ate half a bag before realizing this. This is very concerning as I am allergic. 🫠 this is very unsafe and Walmart needs to fix this. I should have read other reviews first.
Ok, I tried regular jerky and it had this weird goo coated on it and it was overpowered of spices and gunk, so I threw that away after %26 ordered the Teriyaki...thinking maybe I just bought a bad batch?! NOPE. Walmart has changed the recipe and ruined it. It's gooey and sticky and coated with some off-putting and weird spice coating that feels almost wet. This is my last time ever buying it...UNLESS you go back to how it used to be made with no gooey sticky thick coating. YUCK! So bummed!
Beef jerky is, by definition, a dried meat product. But not at Walmart! Their creative suppliers are now thrilled to bring you "wet jerky!" This product used to be prepared correctly, but an unfortunate change occurred several months back. And now this product is so moist it's almost mushy. One shouldn't need a napkin when eating jerky! :D I believe that the regular and peppered varieties are still done right, but avoid the teriyaki for now.
I don't know what happened on the last batch i got. But after unopened for a few days I went to open it and seen white fuzz through the clear portion and said that cant be mold. Sure enough it was mold and a lot of it. I have had this product before many of times and no issues. So be careful and look at the expiration date. I hope it was a one off issue.
