Hamilton Beach Smooth Edge Automatic Electric Can Opener, Black & Stainless

This is my third one of these. I’ve been buying them for 15 or so years and I absolutely love them. They do wear out but for the money they are the best. The lids of the cans come off, smooth without sharp edges. This one did not come with scissors this time. But, there’s a slot in the back for a pair of small craft scissors. I saved the ones from my last can opener and they slide right in the back. You can purchase the can opener with scissors, but it’s about six dollars more I love the look of this. It has beautiful stainless steel on it and it is just quality.

This can opener is the greatest. After buying one for myself , I bought several as Christmas Gifts . I love the fact there are no more jagged edges of a can lid that an ordinary can opener produce. This lid lifts off , no sharp edges .Highly recommend this product !

Reviewed all kinds of can openers and after many reviews chose this can opener. Couldn’t be happier! Love the fact that it opens cans without sharp tops and cans plus the cord slides into the opener . I store it because I do not use it very often but when making chili or opening baked beans can it sure is nice to have. Saves my arthritic hands! Happy with this purchase!

We originally had an Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch but looked to replace it. We ordered a Cuisinart opener from Kohl’s and found the product to be problematic, the removable opener (for cleaning purposes) kept falling off into the can. We were pleased to go back to Hamilton Beach because we found out it’s a superior opener!

I haven't bought a new can opener in a long time, but the electric one I had was failing, I had to help it turn the cans half the time, getting it to actual puncture the can was terrible. this works so well and easily I actually thought it wasn't working, but nope, it's so smooth and no puncturing sound or anything, I love this thing, I can't speak to it's use after multiple years, but I love it, just be sure to open anything with liquid over something, getting the lid off can cause a bit of spilling.

The Hamilton Beach can opener that I had was many years old and decided to stop working at a time I was preparing for company and working in the kitchen on our meals late before the day of their arrival. I am unable to use the manual can opener that I have because I have severe rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, and it is impossible for me to use the manual one so I was stuck, wanting to cook and no way to open any can of any kind. obviously at that hour it was too late for me to go out shopping for a new can opener, so I ordered one from Walmart on my Walmart plus account and it was delivered by 8 o’clock the next morning in plenty of time for me to finish my cooking. Walmart had the Hamilton Beach electric can opener that I wanted in stock and had it delivered to me quickly to save my day!

I replaced this can opener and it works fine.. I hope this review will be forwarded to someone in management. I received this can opener with no packaging material in the box, the can opener itself was greasy, filthy, had. Debris all over the bottom.. Clearly, it was returned to customer service, where no one bothered to check it out and it was just put back on the shelf.. The manager of this store needs to be made aware ~~ that is, if they even care.SELLING

This can opener seems well made but it doesn't work as expected. Even though the can has made several turns on the opener and the lid is cut, I can't get it to pop off. I tried using a bottle opener to pop the lid but I still struggled to get it off. I thought it might be user error but the same thing happened every time I used it. I like the idea of the lid not having sharp edges when removed but the aggravation of getting the lid off the can after using this opener is not worth it.

Beware!! I can only put one star for safety reasons, since this can opener spirals off little, sometimes long, metal shavings when cutting. Be careful to “listen” or “feel” when it has made one rotation cutting, because if you’re not paying attention and it cuts 2 rotations you will absolutely have metal spirals on the can and potentially falling in your food. I am diligent not to let it cut more than one pass, and this still happens. It’s a shame because it does cut smooth and efficiently otherwise. I suspect it’s the cutting mechanism for the “safety lid” or smooth rim cutting. I’m going back to a regular electric can opener and hope this stops happening.

This model of can open is a badly designed, cheaply manufactured disaster. No matter what company puts thier name on it. I have had two now, of the same model and design excluding the cutting head. The first one was a Cusinart standard head regular can open. That one was difficult to handle with any can with a slight ding or dent on the rim. Then after apprx 4 months of lite use, I'm talking maybe used three times a week. The motor burned out. I then bought a Hamilton Beach model (same can opener manufacturer) with the safe opening can top option and opening head.(No sharp edges). Now this one rips the labels off gets caught up in the torn paper. Refuses to open any slightly imperfect lids even with assistance from the operator to turn and help it get around those areas. I'm sorry this model should be permanently discontinued and start over with a new design. these Automatic Can Openers have been around since 1931 but not becoming corporately mass produced until the late 50's. I think with todays technology we should be able to make much better Automati
