This was my first time buying this pet water bottle but I needed some asap as the ones I got from the pet store kept leaking. I've only had them 1 night but they seem to be doing the job! :)
This was for my 5th puppy who keeps stepping or knocking over her water. She is training with it and so far so good. I still keep the other bowl for now.
I was concerned about buying these bottles when I read the negative reviews, but my son's hamster had 6 babies, we needed a water bottle for each one, and I was trying to keep costs down. After having bought and setup 6 of these bottles, this is what I found: These water bottles do NOT leak if you follow the directions. 1) Make sure that the black rubber ring (gasket) inside the water bottle cap is seated at the bottom of the threads. If the ring is offset and gets pinched when you tighten the cap or is entirely missing then the bottle will leak from the cap. 2) Fill the water bottle all the way to the top so that it is FULL of water... not a quarter of the way, not half way, not three quarters... but completely FULL, the bottle MUST be filled until it is FULL or else it will leak. 3) Once the bottle is full and the cap is screwed on, turn the bottle upright and roll your finger across the metal ball in the tip to make sure water comes out. If it seems like there is not enough water coming out of the tip then hold the bottle with the metal tip down and give the bottle a gentle squeeze so that a few drops of water come out, then a gentle shake to get the air bubbles to float to the top, and finally check the tip again to make sure that water flows when the metal ball is rolled. If you think you've got a drippy bottle then you can place a small ceramic plate underneath the tip to catch the water and verify the problem without swamping your cage. If the bottle is dripping too much then take it out, rinse the bottle and metal tip thoroughly, fill the bottle completely full (ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP), check the tip to make sure water comes out when the metal ball is spun, and rehang the bottle. I had one bottle that seemed to drip more than the others but was able to get it to stop dripping by doing this. I recheck each bottle every time the hamster cages are opened to make sure they are not dripping and that they produce water when the metal tip is spun. I've only had them a week but all 6 work just fine.
This is a great item, but when you go to fill it up, it is IMPERATIVE that you fill it all the way to the top (to the rim), otherwise, any air trapped inside of the bottle will cause the bottle to constantly leak. ...The directions did not emphasize the importance of it being completely full - they made it seem more like a 'suggestion' than a mandatory step. Once filled the right way, no issues.
It works, but leaks easily. Water drips from the little ball continuously, wastes a lot of bedding. But if looking for a cheap and temporary option it works.
Would've been perfect, however it won't hold water. Something by the ball is messed up because it drips constantly
these are cheaply made and leak out immediately after being filled. And they were not worth the cost. I will be returning this 3 pack. And look elsewhere for a better quality product that will not leak out. The product description says they didn't leak....that was why I bought them. Absolutely false ....it does come with a cage hanger.
I purchased a similar product at petsmart and it broke almost immediately. By broke, I mean that the ball that's supposed to keep the water in the container through the straw was not holding the water back. It leaked everywhere, and by the next morning, my guinea pig was soaking wet. I then decided to pick this product up at Walmart and Within the first week of use, it also broke the same way the other water bottle broke. I went ahead and just bought a water bowl instead.
this little water bottle for the pet rabbit leaked as soon as it got home and leaked all over the cage and leaks and leaked. after 2 days of frustration, I simply threw it out and bought a water bottle and a dish bowl for the ferret like when it has for dogs. I also got that here at Walmart and that was much more expensive than this water bottle but at least it did the trick. just as a warning to any Walmart customer do not buy this item.
Product does not come with a aquarium bottle hanger (white plastic piece on back of the bottle ) as shown
