You get what you pay for

Bobby1234578 October 25, 2013

This was shipped to my house, and as I kind of expected, the box had been dropped on one of the corners and all four pieces of this tabletop are damaged. It's made of cheap particleboard, very flimsy and thin. Also, the net probably won't last long as it is also cheap and flimsy. For the price, I guess it will serve its purpose. Just make sure you have plenty of support underneath, otherwise, the corners will sag and make the surface un-playable.

Good inexpensive conversion top

NawlinsBP July 8, 2013

I took a chance on this table and am very happy I did. The 4 piece design means there is a seam down the middle that occasionally affects the ball bounce but overall it is a good table for our family of four. You definitely need 2 people to mount and dismount since the hinges are on the underside. I placed short 2x4x4 pieces between the top and the bed of the pool table at the seams and at the net line to help ensure a flat, even surface. The biggest drawback in using it is that it is fairly easy to push out of alignment if you bump the table while trying to make a shot, as there is nothing included to help maintain the position of the conversion top on the pool table. The included net is pretty cheap but it will get you started.

The hinges that are sent with the product are NOT strong enough. After assembly and installing on my pool table and retracting the first time , the hinges broke and pulled out of the table. I purchased a couple of piano hinges and installed them in the middle of both sides, and work beautifully. There NEEDS to be some sort of attachment to hold the ends of the table even upon installitation.

Poor shipping even site to store

Bqwertfghj December 25, 2013

You get what you pay for. First set came in with one edge of each of the four pieces dented/broken. It needs support in the middle to the pool table because it sags on the hinges. Second set came in decent condition and with the wood underneath it on the pool table, it plays well. The pre-dimpled screw spots also weren't aligned properly so needed to use a drill. Trying to use a username that wasn't already chosen was painful!!

Bad product according to the description

forwardface January 2, 2013

Bad product, what I thought was two pieces ,really is four pieces to put together. I definitely will not buy this product again, unless it is under $125.00 to include shipping. The decription of the product should definitely state that it is four pieces with hinges.

Ordinary table top....not a great value

JerseyIyer August 14, 2014

Did not come with proper holes drilled for putting the hinges on. Need to drill hole which resulted in some part of the screw showing up on the playing top.

Makes my pool table more versitile!

mamabear21 July 28, 2015

Bought this product in order to make our current pool table more useable. Fit over the table nicely, was pretty simple to put together. Nice setup. The only drawback was sharp corners, bought child corner covers for it. Nice product. Had some issues shipping it to my door but after I contacted Wal-Mart about the issues they took care of my complaint.

Poor packing !!

2cents January 22, 2017

The packing is bad and caused the boards to chip at the end .The playing surface seems to be good for the family to gather around and play. But should watch out for bumping into the boards as they move around since they are not fixed to anything. The price makes up for the inconvenience I think.

Decent Product But Incomplete - Bad Packaging

Nickname June 22, 2016

The table components themselves are sturdy enough and well made enough, but the packaging doesn't stand up to the rough handling it gets in shipment (mine was Fedex Ground). The packing box had some major gouges in it which translated to gouged edges of the table - fortunately on the underside, so you can still use it. Corners were also mashed on a couple of sections, but not bad enough to send back. To assemble the table you screw some pretty flimsy hinges to the underside of two table pieces to make a side. There are pilot holes for the hinge screws on one of the pieces only. I'm pretty sure there are supposed to be on BOTH pieces, so you have to drill your own pilot holes on the other piece . . . the instructions say nothing about this, but if you have a drill and very small bits, it's no big deal. Also, there is a thin sheet of a foam 'cloth' packed between the play surfaces of two of the table surfaces. It's put there to protect the surfaces from scratching each other. But it left a sticky residue on the playing surfaces that WILL NOT COME OFF WITHOUT SOLVENT. Well - not a good idea to use solvent on a painted surface, so the sticky residue remains. It makes the table top a trap for dust. Also, they include a little hard foam block to put in the center of your pool table to support the four table pieces from underneath where they all join in the center of the table. The foam block is completely inadequate for this - you'l have to make something of your own to use. All-in-all, the table was inexpensive and it does the job - you can play a decent game of ping pong on it, but you have to be really careful to not screw up the assembly, or you're gonna have gaps between your table pieces that are too big. If you want something really good, you'll have to move up the price/quality curve.
