arrived quickly amd in excellent condition. assembly was a breeze, so much so that i assembled it myslef in less time than an episode of anime. looks like a pro assembled it.

Love these shelves! Wish they were cheaper because we all know furniture nowadays is overpriced but they are still great! Easy to assemble. I used hot glue when assembly the wooden dowels to ensure extra security. Added gold trim on the edges for a little razzle dazzle! Love!

I purchased two to make something like a bridged bookcase for my bed….. these were the perfect height needed to go across my tall canopy… very cost effective, I’m very happy with the product. The reason it’s a 4 instead of 5 is because the height of the individual shelves, it’s too short to add certain items I wanted to.

Before you move it to a bedroom it's important to air it out in a larger room. At first it smelled good like wood but then it was a too strong toxic smell so I'm airing it for a couple of days until the toxic smell is gone. so far it looks great and easy to put together.

UPS Delivery Driver gets 10 Stars!! She was EXTRA careful during delivery, NOT to damage box!! For the specified dimensions (82”h x 23.6”w x 9.3d) of bookshelf, it serves its intended purpose well. Easy to (very carefully) assemble %26 all pieces were included. The shallow depth makes its best use for display of photos, trinkets, small books. Due to height, most definitely best to anchor top of shelf to wall…. Value is least stars due to fact it is Particle Board %26 has been off gassing (excessively) from moment we opened box :-(

could be a bit stronger in the joint between upper and lower sections, but it works and the unit looks good so I can't complain. Plus something heavy hit it on the side with enough force to pull the top securing screw out of the drywall, but no damage at all to the bookshelf. I definitely suggest driving the screw into a stud.

Furniture used to be solid and long-lasting. Not anymore. And, this is a perfect example. And, of course, the price demonstrates that reality. But, for the money, it is realistic. Assembly was easy and relatively quick. No puzzles or mysteries. Straightforward construction. Definitely need the wall stabilizers for a bookcase this shallow and this tall. Works for what I need. Unfortunately, there were some paint flaws on the shelves, but, once the books, etc. are placed, no one will see them. Like the color. It is what it is and the price is fair.

IKEA no longer sells Birch bookshelves so i got this in Light Oak, which on the site looks like birch. The color in real life is a much darker gray-brown with a very busy and prominent wood pattern (in stripes; the boards have 3 stripes of wood pattern, none of which line up or match). i didn't assemble the shelves so i have no opinion about the quality (although it's odd to me that the sides aren't one piece, they're basically two shelves stacked on top of each other which i wouldn't think is stable). i'm just unhappy with the color. Especially given how hard it is to return (unlike most items, because these are so large and heavy - 45 lbs - you need to call Walmart and get permission to return them).

The panels are much too thin at 1/2 inch instead of .8 inches. I didn't even bother to assemble the upper 3 shelf top unit for fear of it crashing down loaded with books! If you are not using it for books then you might be OK but loaded with books you can see the shelf deflection(Not Good). Be sure to put your lighter book or other things toward the side panels and the lighter things near the center for less deflection. Putting it in a corner would help some too in that the side wall will help prevent the side panel from buckling like putting another object on the the other side panel would. Good luck!
