As soon as the boys received this (4 and 6) their eyes lit up! They needed a little help building it but once it was up was quite sturdy- they have been playing lots with it and have asked for more cars from santa so it looks like it will be a firm favourite for a while!
The grandkids (9, 5 & 3) loved this, and Grampy had lots of fun too. It was fantastic to see them working as a team to build the track and mix it with track they already had. It kept them occupied for ages with squeals of laughter at the power boosters. Not too easy to put up but that added to the team work, great that it has 4 tracks to build, so usable without having other HW track. The only downside was they weren't too keen on putting it away when finished and there's a lot to tidy up!
Excellent set, 4 tracks to be made so great value, the boosters make all the difference to a normal race track and the kids loved them, (although they are noisy) the kids were amazed at the speed the cars shot around the track, this was played with by a 5,7 and 10 year old and they all enjoyed it,they tried all their hotwheels cars to see which worked the best. Having 4 tracks to make stopped them getting bored and extended the time playing ( dad had to help set up the tracks). I definitely recommend this track builder set, it's the best hotwheels we have ever had and we've had a lot. Will be buying more as they can connect to other sets.
My boys both love Hot Wheels. We have tons of cars and a fair few different motorised mechanical track sets. This set though is back to basics allowing them to use their imaginations and construction skills to come up with workable designs. Contains a nice variety of pieces supplement what they already have but of course contains everything for a nice stand alone set. Even comes with a fab Hot Wheels car!
This is a terrific value kit to get started. The main illustration on the box shows a linear track (with loops), but we figured out that the track can be rearranged to make a circular run, which means that the fun can go on endlessly. The boosters give the cars some real welly and provide enough power to send the cars through loops. And this is where Hot Wheels comes into its own: making your cars do stunts! Having played with this I want to get more track kits to expand the range, all of which are compatible with this kit. Great fun!
Since we got it we couldnt stop playing with it. There are so many combinations, including using the box as ramps or for targets. All three of my boys 3-8 were able to play together without fights, and had competitions to see who could score the most! Definately recommend!
We put in in the living room for when they came downstairs and it got a bigger wow than some of his birthday toys 2 weeks ago. The easy open box is a noticeable difference, the 6 and 2 year olds can just get on with it, instead of having to find screwdrivers, scissors etc to open it The toys links up easily with other hot wheels stuff in various ways, so keeps the creativity flowing. The car is being played with lots with other props as well
We received the Hot Wheels Race Kit just before my son's 3rd birthday. He needed help setting the track up, and we found he was unable to play by himself as he kept knocking the track out of alignment and getting the car stuck. Despite the pictures showing two cars racing, the kit came with only one car, and none of his other cars were slim enough top to bottom to work in the track. Battery requirements weren't listed on the box so we had to open the box before going hunting! We put the set on one side for a few months and on returning to it he was much happier to play although still needed help setting up and adjusting the track from time to time. While the boosters are running it's quite noisy. I was unable to watch the television at the same time as he played, for instance. It's a great kit and our little boy loves it (now he's a little older). I think if the box shows two cars it needs to be much more clear that there's only one included. The box itself is rather flimsy for storing the track once you've opened it a few times. I would definitely recommend the race kit to others!
My 3 year old son has spent hours building and changing the tracks to create loops and ups and downs and turns, each time trying several cars to see which ones worked best. He needs some help, but likes to help craft the tracks. There are many parts and a manual to get you started. It is a fairly solid unit, and seems stable, for the cars to perform. The pieces fit with other Hot Wheels kits, so our collection continues to expand. My son loved fitting his garage to the end, where the cars would go for service or petrol. The only drawback I have found is the noise that is created when the turbo booster is turned on. It is fairly loud, but we end up turning it on and off between races. Due to the noise, I only gave 4 stars.
This was a gift to my son for Christmas (from Santa). He loved it when he opened the box. We played with it for several hours on Christmas day. It worked pretty well except the car fell off a few of the loops when in the up-side-down position. It is very necessary to have full batteries. Unfortunately, after several hours of playing with it, one of the boosters stopped working. I had to tell my son that one of Santa's elves made a mistake and we would have to get Walmart to help us. How else could I explain? I will replace it. Fingers crossed the boosters hold up.
