This laptop is a very good starter for school and working at home. It comes with various different programs that will start you in your way as well as memory.
Our family really needed a new laptop. Our HP laptop is about six or seven years old. It was suitable for our needs, but when it came to gaming, it was so slow. We were super excited to get the HP 15.6 i3 touch screen 8GB/256 laptop because we love HP products, and we know that they are very high quality. This laptop does NOT disappointment. I was a little worried about only having the Core i3 10th gen processor being a little slow, but it is not! Our online gaming now is faster than ever before. There are so many great qualities with this HP laptop. In addition to super speed, the graphics are incredible. It's very lightweight and has a slim design. I love having a touch screen too. The set-up directly out of the box was simple; Cortana (the virtual assistant) provided voiced step-by-step directions. I really like the keyboard. I do a lot of typing for work, and sending e-mails, and the keys are comfortable and responsive. The touch pad mouse works really well too. The one draw back is that you have to take it off the Microsoft apps default to download any apps you may want. Overall, HP makes a great product. They have wonderful tech support that can basically trouble shoot and fix practically any problem. This is a great laptop, and our family is absolutely thrilled with it. If you love gaming, streaming movies, internet, and also the Microsoft suite of programs, then this HP laptop will suit all your needs. Game on!
I have purchased Laptop during the COVID-19 time when shopping for items considered non essential can be a REAL challenge. As a FT Accounting employee, mom, and student, to me, having a reliable laptop is a MUST. In my case, HP didn't disappoint me in any aspect! Lightweight (caring usually around more staff with me), long lasting battery, and perfect screen size (15.6) are a win. Not mention crisp and solid screen colors. Easy set up - I was up and ready to go in less then 30min (including bringing up to life all of my email accounts). Laptop comes in "S Mode," and to turn it into a regular Windows machine takes only to answer couple questions. There was no problems at all to download Chrome or Microsoft Office products. Consistent HP support, information about needed updates is a win, especially for new users. If you are on the market for solid and at the same time inexpensive computer - thats a WINNER. Would definitely purchase again, if needed.
I've never owned an HP computer so I was pleasantly surprised to find out they function this well. This laptop is perfect for a back to school computer because of the functionality and the low price point. It comes with the basic power cord and instructions but Cortana talks you right through the setup within minutes. It's literally plug and play straight out of the box. It doesn't have huge memory but it still has plenty to do reports and write papers. It has decent graphics and can easily play games but not super intensive games unless you play on lower settings. This system is perfect for a back to school gift or giving to grandparents that are just starting out on computers. It's fairly fast, very lightweight, versatile and it has good enough stats for your everyday basic needs.
While this is an inexpensive computer, you need to be aware it comes with Windows 10, which Microsoft stopped supporting in October of 2025 and a lot of the modern software won't run on it. It is upgradable to Windows 11, which I did, but it was not straightforward and I had to download some installation assistance software from HP to get it to work. Also keep that this is an old stock computer and it is out of warranty from HP before you even open the box.
I am sad to have to write this review. This seems to be a very good laptop. Very fast with the i3 processor. There isn't any fan, so no fan noise. Solid state drive, so no motor noise. Unfortunately this, like most newer units, omits the optical drive. So you can't load any software you may have that is on a CD, you can't listen to a CD, nor can you watch a DVD. Outboard optical drives are available, however, not expensive, but just another thing you have to take with you. The main drawback, and maybe why this has been discounted as a Black Friday deal, is the poor keyboard. I have had a few laptops over more than 20 years. All have had black keys with white characters. For some illogical reason HP has decided to make the keyboard a light silver grey color. They then made the characters a medium silver grey color with very thin line characters. The contrast between the key color and character form and color is very poor. Even in a good light the keys are not easy to read, in less than bright light, extremely difficult to make out. I believe this drawback overshadows the good characteristics of this machine. I will reluctantly return this and seek a more ergonomically designed laptop.
Got this around beginning and used for about a month. Literally kept the box / packaging JUST IN CASE anything were to happen. Then I thought I was in the clear, so I finally tossed the carboard boxes out. Next week I go to turn on my computer and randomly have no wifi. Go to settings and see no option to connect so I turned off computer by holding down power button about 15 seconds to fully reset it. Then it never booted up again as I have tried dozens of ways to fix it over these past few days such as reinstalling windows, powering on and off again, boot settings, troubleshooting through flash drive with command prompt, etc. It made me so mad cuz it cost a bit out of my college fund and now it doesn't even work the piece of junk. Had one of these before but I don't remember where my parents got it and its around the same model being 15.6 inches. The last one got old as i had it nearly 6 years, and this one is "brand new". All i did was watch YouTube %26 Anime, and installed Steam. Didn't download anything else except home %26 lockscreen pictures, so i have no idea what jacked it up.
The screen on this laptop suddenly went black after just two months of use — a serious reliability issue for a device marketed as a premium business machine. Although the repair was covered under warranty, getting it resolved took over two weeks in total, which meant an extended period without a working laptop. Early hardware failures like this raise real concerns about build quality and long-term durability, especially at this price point. Based on my experience, I can't confidently recommend this laptop for anyone who needs reliable, uninterrupted performance for business use.
Turned on laptop followed the start up directions. completed this process downloaded app to connect to my phone and laptop shut off when turned back on ask for password wouldn't except password then shut down said I need to restart unable to restart. contact HP tech support only solutions they offered cost between $15-70 on the new computer I'm supposed to have 90 days free. Couldn't get back to the store fast enough. The return they're saying it doesn't match up code. I'm wandering when the nightmare is going to end. They did refund my money to the card takes 3-5 days. I'll never purchase another HP product.
i had this laptop about 4 months and the charger port became damaged by plugging and unplugging the charger. Reached out to HP about my options and warranty come to find out. warranty for my device started 6 months before i even purchased the device. they refuse to accept my walmart app receipt. told me i need physical receipt to update warranty. making me feel like a scam artist for asking about them replacing the charger port. overall they've done nothing, ive read this is a common problem with this model laptop and i now basically own a $459 paperweight. im sure theyll try to milk me for a few hundred more if i asked about them replacing my charger port that proved to be faulty. avoid any product HP
