Out of the box, the onscreen instructions walked you thru each step and made it very easy to set up, and so it was ready to go in no time. The monitor is very pleasing visually, sharp and very clear. The sound on this little computer is amazing!. Many laptops have very poor sound, but not this one! There is not a ton of storage, so if you backup your files in the cloud this will work great for your needs. I love the "lightweight" feel of this laptop (compared to the clunky one this replaces). This keyboard does not have a "numeric keypad" on the side, so beware of that in case that is important to you. Overall, this is super little laptop with great performance and when "surfing the web" the pages load quickly. The only negative thing (and I almost gave this 4 stars for this reason) is that the keyboard letters are extremely hard to read unless you are in a very good light. We may eventually order keyboard stickers to remedy this situation. The bottom line: this is a great little laptop and is a pleasure to use. The most accurate rating I can give this would be 4 1/2 stars (knocked off 1/2 point simply because of the keyboard).
I am extremely impressed with the HP 14-dq1089wm 14.0" HD Laptop. First, its case is a neat Digital Camo design. It is very thin and light so it is easy to take with you. It comes with an Intel Core i3-1005G1 1.20GHz processor and it is impressively fast. To help with the fast speed of this laptop is the 8GB of DDR4 SDRAM that comes in it. It also has a 256 GB Drive which is very. It charges very quickly and holds the charge longer than I have noticed in previous laptops, meaning less time spent near a power outlet to make sure your battery doesn't die. It comes with Windows 10 preloaded. Set up was so easy. Cortana took over and most of the setup was done verbally. In addition to everything else, on the right side of the keyboard there are 2 USB ports an HDMI port and a headphone/mic jack. And on the left side of the keyboard is an SD media card reader, which is extremely handy for transferring files between phones, digital cameras and the laptop. The HD video display on this laptop is crisp and clear. All in all I absolutely love this laptop, and I am loving discovering more new features each time I use it.
This is a GREAT computer!! My last computer was a gift from my family, and I really loved my old HP but after almost a decade it now moves slow and I needed to upgrade. I only wanted to get another HP and chose this 14 inch HD with a Solid State Drive. My husband insisted we should only get a Solid State Drive computer and I now understand why. This instant on HP really does start up unbelievably fast and works all my apps that I am using equally fast. The battery last for hours and since the computer is exceptionally light to carry I can take it anywhere in my house that I want or in my backpack if I need to take it somewhere with me and I won't have to worry about being near a electric outlet. I was worried about the 14 inch size but the HD screen is very easy for me to read. The letters on the keyboard are large and easily seen. It has a 8 GB system memory and 256 GB storage which gives me plenty of room for my needs. I did not think that it was possible for me to ever use or like another computer, but I was wrong. This was an exceptionally good decision for me!
This HP 14-dq1088wm i5 Modern Camo laptop is super neat. It arrives safely in a box with thick padding and also had a soft fabric piece between the screen and keyboard. It includes this lightweight laptop and charging power cord. I really love the sage green color! Once the laptop is open it reveals a super cool digital camo print around the keyboard. Once I turned the laptop on, I noticed the voice that helps set up the Basics such as region, keyboard layout, connect to network and username. Very user friendly for anyone, all ages. This has one of the latest i5 processor and windows applications, making this a fast loading computer. 256 GB is a large amount of storage! I like that the keyboard is the sage green too. It is somewhat relaxing while working on documents and projects. This was simple to connect to my wireless printer and home wifi. Set up has guides on screen. I think it was very thoughtful how they placed a QR Code sticker on the keyboard area for quick guides, specs and step by step support. The speakers sound great for light music, video games and ebooks, very clear sound with high quality video. The webcam feature is one of my favorite parts of this laptop with a 720p HD camera. I love how easy this is to sync from my accounts from my phone to quickly set up online meetings! Within minutes everything is running and fully functional, no long wait times for updates. This charges way faster than my previous different brand laptop. After it is fully charged, the battery lasted more than 6 hours. I keep up to date with technology and can say I am very impressed with the included features and presentation of design. It is compact and feels premium. I really can't find any negatives on this laptop. HP is already one of my preferred brands because they have innovative products, high quality gear and the Best office essentials software.
I love the digi Camo on this Hp Laptop. The outside it’s a nice army type color with the digi Camo on the inside, where the keyboard is. Even if just had the green color, it would still have an appealing color. The laptop for some odd reason was not charged at all when I received it. The great thing was that it didn’t take long to fully charge it. It loads up quickly and is lightweight and thin ( but not to thin) , makes taking it everywhere a breeze. It’s equipped with intel core 13. The screen come in that clear HD everyone loves. It’s operating the latest Windows 10 . Has a wireless access point. The setup is easy for beginners with the help of Cortana. Those already tech savvy can just dive right in and set it up to your liking. Love the long lasting charge. Can get a lot of work done in such little time.
Hp 14 Laptop, Intel Core i5-1035G1, 8 GB SDRAM, 256GB SSD+16GB Optane The laptop arrived pretty well packaged and undamaged. The screen size is 14 inches with 720p resolution. It has installed Windows 10. It's processor is Core i5. It's internal storage is 256 GB SSD + 16 GB Optane memory. It has 8 GB SDRAM. The laptop has a good UHD graphics card. The wireless internet is Realtek 802.11b/g/n/ac and is blue tooth enabled. The camera is HD TrueVision HD with integrated dual digital microphones. The laptop has HP Fast Charge. It can go from 0 to 50% charge in about 45 minutes. The unit has a headphone/microphone connector, one USB 3.1 Type-C connector, one USB-3.1 Type-A connector, one HDMI connector, and one Media reader port. The laptop does come with what they call bonus software that some people might like. Okay, we have most of the technical stuff out of the way. The laptop was very easy to sit up. The battery on my laptop came pre-charged. I turned it on and the unit walked me through the set-up process. It connected to my wireless network very fast on the first try. It has now been running for several days and has never lost Wi-Fi connection. I have found the laptop to be fast and able to handle up to three different spread sheets and data bases at the same time. I have loaded four or five movies onto the unit. It starts and plays the movies without any problems. When it comes to the speakers, don't expect too much. So far, I've never found a laptop that has great speakers. Get yourself a good pair of ear buds with a mic. The camera is very good. The picture is very clean and the colors are great. I did a test recording with sound. The dual microphones work very well. The recorded sound was better than expected. When surfing the web, I have found the laptop to be as fast as my home desktop. Like some other reviewers, I don't care much for the keyboard. The biggest problem with the keyboard that I have is the letters and numbers on the keys are hard to see. They do not stand out from the keys very well at all. A back lit keyboard would be a great change to make to this laptop. I plan to pick up a mini wireless keyboard/mouse combo. It's what I use with my smart TV and they work great. This is a smaller laptop, so don't be surprised that it dose not have an internal optical drive. It you need an optical drive, purchase an inexpensive external optical drive. I had two or three laying around the house. I don't think I paid more than $25 or $30 dollar for any one of them. They will work fine. I'm afraid I can't say much about how it does with games. I'm not a gamer. In closing, I'm happy with the laptop. It doesn't weigh very much and is very easy to carry around. So far, mine has operated with no problems at all. I would recommend this laptop.
I got this HP 14-dq1089wm i3 Modern Camo ( Digi Camo)New, I am pleased with it so far. The color is a pleasing silver green digi camo on the inside and a slick silverish green satin finish on the exterior. The Pros of this Laptop is that it is small at 14" and light. So great for a younger user for school or surfing. The laptop has 2 2.0 usb, 1 hdmi, headphone port, and a usb c connection on one side and a media card reader on the other. It is Wifi only and has bluetooth. It comes pre-loaded with Windows 10 and takes less than 5 minutes to set up and then study or surf. The cons of this laptop: are 1. the keyboard is extremely hard to see in low light, as the color of the keys is only a few shades different than the base color. A suggestion would be to add more contrast to that color or have LED backlighting. The next con is that there is NOT a cd player/reader. So anything that needs to be loaded into the system has to be done via usb or download. One more con is that it lacks a Ethernet port so this laptop is ONLY WIFI. Otherwise its a good starter or fill in laptop, it wont handle gaming, so don't try. It is a 10th gen i3, with 8gb ddr4 memory, 256GB pciNVMe M.2 ssd. Battery life is good, but its still new too.
This is HP 14" 8GB Camo Laptop is beautiful and very quiet. This device would be perfect for a child or young adult, especially during this pandemic, for remote learning, or for anyone looking for a basic, functional, up-to-date system. It has Windows 10 pre-installed, has a Webcam, and is very thin and lightweight. But for me, it's what it doesn't have that makes it imperfect for my needs. First and foremost, this isn't a backlit keyboard, making it difficult for my older eyes to see the very thin white letters and numbers on the keys, even in the best lighting. In addition, the setup process was extremely difficult, and there are issues that still need my attention so that the setup can be completed. Because there's no fingerprint reader and because I've grown unaccustomed to remembering passwords due to smart phones, it complicates the setup process. And there's no touch screen, so again that's a feature that we rely on on our smart phones and a difficult habit to break when you haven't worked on a laptop in ages. Lastly, there's no DVD Writer/port: only a media card reader. So while I'd definitely recommend this beautiful machine to others, for me, though I wish this wasn't the case, this laptop just doesn't suit my needs.
I received this from HP in exchange for an honest review. The specs on the laptop are great. Intel core I5 processor. 8gb of ram and a 256gb SSD drive makes this laptop very speedy. It boots up in seconds. USB ports are all 3.1. And there is also a USB-C type port for file transfers but it's a shame that it can't be used for charging. A SD card will slide all the way in the slot making it nearly flush with the laptop. The webcam with noise canceling is nice for skyping or zooming. Browsing was speedy even with many tabs open. The body is all plastic which makes it feel a tad cheap. Moving the display up and down doesn't inspire confidence. The base where the keyboard sits is a sort of a digital camouflage design. I'm not a fan of it but color is subjective. Now here is the major problem I have with this laptop. The colors of the keys are light army green as is the rest of the laptop. The color of the letters on the keys is white. The problem with this is that in certain lighting conditions, mainly natural light, it's hard to see the letters on the keys. See my pics. Sitting in a chair in my living room during daylight hours I have a hard time seeing the keys. How the heck can you type when you can't see the keys? This is a major design flaw. Two stars off for this design. The display is a reflective glossy TN panel with only 1388x728 resolution, not 1080p. I found the text not to be true black and hard on the eyes. I don't like glossy panels as I prefer non-glare matte IPS panels with 1080p. This may be subjective as well. You may be able to deal with the low resolution but I however would never buy a laptop with this type of display for myself. If you're looking for speed, it has speed and decent components in spades. The plastic case and display leaves a lot to be desired as does the hard to see keyboard.
This laptop is lightweight, good size at 14 inches. It runs great, no noise. It was very easy to set up. But it has one very major flaw for me. The letters on the keys are almost invisible. Even in normal lighting, you have a hard time seeing the letters. Imagine trying to see them in low light. I dj for parties and I had to use a flashlight to be able to see the letters on the keys. Critical flaw for me! I have posted a close up picture of the keys, so you can see what I mean. You can't see some of the letters. It seems it is something that can be remedied. I hope they do because other wise I would have given it 5 stars. It does not have a separate number pad, but some may not care about that. I will probably label the keys, so I can use it better.
