HydroTools by Swimline Above Ground Pool Standard ABS Thru Wall Skimmer Kit

We have had the steel frame pools that you can buy at walmart since they first came out. Ive had all the brands (Intex, coleman, summer waves... ((and by the way, they are all just as good as the next)) ) and all have lasted for several years. The pools keep getting better and bigger and we have one of the largest that is made. However; the filtration systems are seriously lacking. The pumps that come with these large pools are super inadequate and the attachable skimmer baskets you can buy that hook on the rail are a joke. We have an upgraded sand filter comparable to a professional above ground pool but desperately needed a 'real' skimmer because keeping the pool clean is challenging without the 'real' stuff. I bought this skimmer although hesitant to cut a hole in the side of a brand new (just replaced our 5 year old 22x52 that got damaged in hurricane helene) pool. My husband is very handy but he installed this skimmer in about 10-15 minutes, after dark. It was easy to install and everything connected to our Intex 24x52 perfectly without needing any adapters or anything additional. We did use 2 black hole plugs that had come with our pool to plug off the original suction holes. While it was still full of water He screwed everything into the pool and attached it all then cut the hole last and it worked perfectly, no leaks, and no - our pool didnt split open. I was so excited this morning to find that my pool didnt have a single speck of dirt or bugs floating on top and that my skimmer basket had trapped all kind of yuck. The basket holes are large but I had purchased some skimmer socks for extremely cheap online (maybe temu?) and put one over the basket and it now will catch every tiny particle. I am super happy with this purchase. As I stated before, these 'walmart' pools have really come a long way in themselves but with an added 'real' skimmer it really takes it up a notch and feels like a real pool. A real sand filter pump and a real skimmer should be standard with these pools as they become larger and sturdier. I expect many summers use out of this pool and skimmer.

this was easier to install than i thought. i wish it was a little more stable. works great, i just wish there was another way to secure it.

Works great. You just have to have a pump big enough to pull the water. The ones that come with most above ground pools don't move enough water.

A part is missing, the box came pretty beat up so unsure if it fell out or just wasn't put in the box.
